Don't think he'd match Hatton's crowd but no shame in that, his support was crazy when it came to travelling. And this is the thing, let's say the Miller fight happens. Well what's to stop the Wilder/Fury winning then deciding to make the fight with Whyte, especially seeing as he seems to be getting shelved here? And if that happens, what are they going to do with AJ? Usyk? Too soon for that, I (very) feel. Someone is going to have to budge in those negotiations at some point. The better the rematch it, the worse for AJ
Surely the Fury v Wilder rematch will depend on the dynamics of the victory. The lure of 50/50 "for all the marbles" must be considered by the winner.
With Wilder v Fury II and possibly III this year (expect DW to have a rematch clause if he loses). I’d like to see Joshua fight 3 times this year - Whyte at Wembley, Miller in the US and a mandatory (Pulev?) in Cardiff. Not that interested in the Whyte rematch but he is possibly the most deserving heavyweight in the world right now having earned his shot. Joshua fighting only twice this year is total BS if one of the fights isn’t the undisputed unification.
It helps free up potential unifications in 2020 too. They could do Whyte in April for the WBO mandatory, Miller in August/September for the WBA and then Pulev in December or at a push January for the IBF.
Turning into a shambles to be honest. He won't fight 3 times this year; the Miller fight is likely to be June and then you're looking towards November/December which will be IBF mandatory. Be interesting to see if the casuals continue to lap it up or whether there's a backlash.
I get there be a rematch clause I was thinking if one gets KTFO. In which case a rematch is unlikely.
I think the backlash has already started. Would not be surprised to see AJ bite over the next 6 months. Getting him over the pond for an easy defence could be the best bet for damage limitation. With Fury now the people's champ is it time to start remarketing AJ as the heel?
16k on an app not many had heard about or know how to use. I’ve no doubt he will sell out an arena though. He’s one of the biggest names in boxing and much bigger than Wilder and/or Fury whether you like it or not. He’s probably in the top 3 or 4 in terms of “names”.
Just spoke with a mate who’s best buds with one of Eddie Hearns best buds and I’m told the fight with AJ vs Miller is almost a done deal in America in June. He said there was already a deal in place with Warren and fury/wilder to have the rematch so Hearn was never going to get one of them. I wonder if Hearn will try and keep the 13th for whyte to headline against maybe Pulev?
I'm not so sure he's bigger in the states than Fury. Fury got a lot of airtime in the build up to the Wilder fight and has become something of a cult hero. I'd say Fury is the bigger draw now stateside. No way can Hearnz can pull that off. Would have to be with the top tier closed or a stage type set up like Bruno v McCall.
If AJ fights Miller in the states then you can bet he will be all over chat shows etc too. That’s nothing to do with popularity that’s called promotion. AJ has 8.2 million insta followers Tyson fury 1.5million. AJ 2.3 million twitter followers. Fury 1 million. Joshua is a bigger global name. You’re an idiot if you think otherwise, it’s not even debatable. You can argue Fury is a better boxer but there’s not a chance he’s a bigger name than AJ. AJ Klitschko done over a million US views in the afternoon (yes free to air). Let’s not forget that either. We won’t know how truly big he is until he sells out an arena over there and fights on prime time US.
