I loved Boza. And, I respected Lockridge. Two underrated 130 lb Champions. Boza should have moved up to 135 lbs. full time after he beat Elizondo at 135 lbs in June 1982 . Instead he dropped back down to 130 and gassed badly in the Chacon and Lockridge fights. He finally moved up permanently after the Lockridge fight and his stamina returned to normal levels.
Doing good, how about yourself? I am just enjoying a nice snowy day and catching up on some fights I have been meaning to watch
I haven't watched this fight in awhile but Lockridge clearly outworked Boza. Boza rarely used his height and reach advantages. Chacon and Lockridge were about 5'5. Boza could have boxed both and caught them coming in. Of course, the fights wouldn't have been as exciting.
Round 1: 10-8 Edwards (scored a knockdown) Round 2: 10-10 Even Round 3: 10-10 Even Round 4: 10-9 Lockridge Round 5: 10-9 Lockridge Round 6: 10-9 Lockridge Round 7: 10-9 Lockridge Round 8: 10-9 Lockridge Round 9: 10-9 Lockridge Round 10: 10-9 Lockridge Total 98-93 Lockridge Despite what appears to be dominance by Lockridge, every round was competitive. Two great warriors in action.
Really entertaining fight. Brings back nice memories. Definitely Rockys night. Like @Saad54 said it would have benefited Boza to fight tall but the man liked to rumble and for that were all thankful.
Boza Edwards always reminded me of Marvin Johnson. Both were southpaws. Both relished a brawl. Both were never in dull fight.
