Groves grew on me as a person the older he got, but as a young man - around about the time he twice fought Froch - he was an obnoxious little sod: self-satisfied and smug. I think Froch struggles to see past the version of Groves who completed a rubik's cube at a prezzer and kept Tweeting the number six prior to the rematch in a crude attempted to play mind games over round six from the first fight. If I'd had to personally deal with the Groves from back then - the man yet to have some humility beaten into him by a choice right hand KO - I think I'd be a bit of a hater too.

No big deal, really and maybe he's just being sincere rather than trotting out platitudes to look good...

 

Froch certainly showed a lack of class with his comments, nevetheless you can't hold that against him. And Ward the man who calls himself the Son Of God(Jesus incarnate) is the last man on this planet who should be calling people up on their perceived arrogance

 

I loved Froch as a fighter but as a pundit he is clueless seems like he doesn't even follow boxing. I don't know why he feels the need to give it to Groves wasn't knocking him the F out satisfying enough?

 

It's ironic isn't it? It kind of reminds me of Fluid. When he was fighting he was delusional as ****, kind of like Broner after the Pac fight. But in retirement Fluid more often than not calls it as it is, which is incredibly ironic.

 

Or you can mind your own business and STFU about it yourself hypocrite.

I don't think Ward is father material. Denouncing Froch for being critical of Groves is self-righteous and hypocritical behaviour.

 

Groves has had a good career, Degale, CEJ, Murray, Chudinov etc if he'd have paced himself better in the first froch fight he was close to getting a pretty dominant win... He's made his millions, he became a champion & he passed the batten! Fair play to him.. I enjoyed his Haye esque boxer puncher style too. Froch is always having sly digs at people, but then again so does Ward in certain ways.

What a bizarrely hostile and petulant send off from Froch, particularly after he seemed to show a little more respect to Groves in recent years. He's just going to continue losing fans as years go on and he opens his mouth to the media. The guy ended up with bragging rights in probably the best possible fashion and look at him. It seems he really can't get over what Groves did to him in the first fight.

I don't think it was the talking, it was the fact Groves backed it up and almost stopped him in the first round. Froch knows that Groves was the only guy who almost stopped him and that he would have been TKO'd, possibly on his feet, if the KD had happened earlier. That hurt his ego big time. Then he was embarrassed for a large part of that fight too and took massive punishment. Groves basically proved he was superior in all technical aspects, just without the engine or toughness, and Froch can't get over the fact he was basically bullied when he was always the bully in fights.

How weird is Froch that he still has the V's in both fights but is so 'butthurt'. Groves was clearly right about him being insecure as well, and that probably pisses Froch off even more.

Just give the guy his credit and wish him well, it's not hard you nose-job hardman mong.

 

I've never seen a boxer (Froch) so mentally affected by an opponent's taunts leading up to a fight. Froch was completely all over the place from the get go in theta fight. It was like he was wading through treacle throwing. Just look at what he was doing a split second before the 1st rd knockdown. WTF? He was staggering forward throwing punches like a drunk. He got completely dominated up until the last round. Ref should have never stopped that fight a that time.
