But tell us how you really feel

We know AJ is a much bigger UK star than Fury. That's not debatable. However, AJ is not a global superstar. He's barely fought outside London, never mind the UK. DAZN figures are abysmal, which we know isn't his fault but that's his global platform at the moment.

AJ may prove to be a bigger star than Fury in the US. He may well sell out MSG v Miller. At the moment though, he hasn't. Fury has recent figures in America to back up his popularity. AJ hasn't. Let's wait and see.

 

Didn't say he was a bigger name globally I said he had a bigger profile in the states. I stand by that statement.

 

Because free to air figures don't tell us much about the popularity of a fighter. Fury/Chisora 1 done 3million viewers for a British title fight. By your logic we could say Fury is more popular than AJ in the UK going by those figures.

That's 325 k more American PPV buys than AJ, and 18,000 more American tickets than AJ. Everything else, for the time being, is assumption.

Pro-tip, if AJ was going to be some mega-star in the States, he'd have been one by now. It's not as if he's been around 5 minutes and we have advanced technologically were people can erm you know google someone they've heard about from the other side of the world. Screencap this!

 

Including the assumption that Fury is now popular, that his next fight will be some massive Vegas million seller, and that domestically he's now the casuals favourite and people are turning on Joshua.

There is, of course, no evidence for this.

In the context of this debate, I've actually made no assumptions. Tyson Fury's latest American figures speak for themselves. AJ has none bar a free to air fight.

Friendly reminder that Fury has just appeared in a photoshoot for GQ magazine. And the build-up for the rematch hasn't even started yet.

 

They did not sell 18k tickets. If they did they would of been telling the world the live gate number but did not. That number came from the LA times. A $3.5 mil live gate is not 18k tickets sold. Its far far less.

If I Google Pacquiao v Broner Live Gate the result appears. A live gate of just over $6 million from 11,410 tickets sold according to data provided to *******.com from the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday.

Why weeks and weeks later if I Google Wilder v Fury live gate their is no official number from the promoter or California state commission. Ask yourself why that is?

The live gate was low. Ppv's in America always have the live gate number released by the commission but for some reason this hasn't happened for Wilder v Fury. Yet you want us to believe they sold 18k tickets? Not a chance.

 

I don't really care chief. That's the figure reported and the only one we can go on for now. People are trying to say AJ is more popular than Fury in the states when he hasn't sold one bloody ticket there yet. It's hilarious how sensitive these people are.

If AJ generates a gate of a similar figure I'll be the first to come on here and congratulate him and indeed matchroom. That's no skin off my nose. I don't live in fear of one fighter being more popular than another as some on here seem to. I'm simply dealing with the facts we've been given for now.

 

You make assumptions about Fury's popularity all the time. That's all I'm saying.

Joshua has the figures to back his popularity up, and Fury doesn't. When Fury and Joshua have fought the same opponents in the UK on the same channel Joshua destroys Fury's figures. When tickets go on sale Fury's sell pathetically in comparison. The so-called huge success of the Wilder fight interestingly doesn't feature anything which actually provides evidence of popularity. We don't have the BT viewing figures for example. No live gate as mentioned above, (but plenty of reports during fight week of tickets simply being given away.) The Vegas rematch that every Casino wants now appears to not be happening in Vegas at all.

Very odd for a guy who is apparently now a global superstar...
