Could Buster Douglas Have Whipped Bowe of 1993?

I don't have much confidence in Buster. He had one great win and even there he was almost knocked out and almost quit. That was a great iconic win and there is not much more to it. A lot like Barkley over Hearns. He beat him and they had great styles over those guys, but other than that what did they do?There has to be more to match them against other guys.

 

I would say no .He wasn't brilliant that Night in Tokyo. I think Razor Ruddock would have beaten Tyson that night.

Yes he could. His performance in Tokyo was spectacular. And, Bowe's performance in the second Holyfield fight was noticeably worse than in their first fight.

And Tokyo Douglas would be even more likely to prevail over the sluggish Bowe that almost lost to Golota.

I say yes, Buster would have whipped Bowe in 1993...and in far more commanding style than the Foul Pole did.....and I know that the '93 Bowe was a better version that the ones Golota found so easy to dominate.

 

Bowe stops him mid fight. Buster can't bully Bowe.

I saw it. He did that looking at his gloves thing and look at the count in that I think 8th round knockdown. He barely made the count. Compare the knockdown vs. Tyson with the knockdown against Holyfield and tell me if you see a similarity. And remember how he quit against Tucker in 1987.

 

Bowe would have roughed him up and stopped him at some point. Beating Mike Tyson does not mean you will beat other great fighters who are just as big as you.

 

Seeing it again, I do not think he was wobbly & unable to continue like Tyson. I think this commenter had it spot on. I will just add that rarely are counts precisely 10, & neither was, but this seems to be True:
