Quite the opposite. Toys out of the pram and on ignore for asking where the figures are to back up what Frank is saying? All very fanboyish.
You always need to look at the subtext though. Hearn is a smart guy and there's typically a reason behind whatever line he's pushing. 'We don't need the States' is what you say when you don't like or fancy the deal that's being offered. At that time, that would've involved putting Anthony Joshua's career in the hands of the people that gave you the scorecards from GGG vs Canelo or Wilder vs Fury. It may also have involved alienating existing broadcast contracts or signing over options on future fights. We know that he didn't fancy it and he was making the point that unlike previous British promoters with top HW's, such as Maloney with Lewis, he didn't have to take what he was offered as he had a perfectly good thing going on over in the UK with great figures and lower risk. A reasonable position I would say? Now, two years hence, going to America for Eddie Hearn involves appearing on the DAZN platform which you help to run, which you have a financial interest in seeing succeed, facing a fighter that you also promote and have a good relationship with and being in complete control of the promotion. It means no conflicts with the existing, important agreements he has this side of the pond. It means he can start to build his fighter in a new market without giving up control or prejudicing the domestic market which he's doing so well in. TLDR? He's effectively talking about two different America's...
So that’s Wilder, Fury, Whyte and now Miller all saying that they’ve been lowballed. They must all be lying
And Klitschko, Parker, Whyte and Povetkin who were all able to come to an agreement. If these types want to overvalue themselves then that's fine.
Yes, think he was badly out hustled by the fact that wilder v fury fight was made out of the blue. The American Ppv market blows ours out of the water so it makes sense to build a market there that's why it seems plausible to me what Frank has said in the Boxing News (it hasn't been disputed has it?). Think it's a presented a problem for Matchroom (to a degree) in that is Joshua actually signed to Dazn or is he a free agent out there? With someone like Canelo they have hard facts to show he is a Ppv giant so they can offer him a deal to compensate for that, what evidence do they have for AJ, he drew approx 13k on freeview. What offer do they make him? The more I think about it AJ will be regretting turning down the Wilder offer. It's a fight I think he wins and he'd have built a big audience and name recognition out there for huge money. Obviously first world problems compared to most fighters but I'm guessing AJ has given a big figure for what he wants next fight and they're struggling to get anyone to get an opponent to accept the low ball offers. It's probably the first misstep of his promotion to be fair but they're starting to look a bit desperate.
Wasn't Klitschko on 50% Parker on 40% and Povetkin on big money to prevent the fight going to Russia?
Haha. You just cannot accept any criticism of the lad can you? Have you ever considered that he might actually be lowballing fighters?
Eddie "lowballed" Joshua himself to get the Charles Martin IBF title fight. Money is no excuse to turn down the chance to fight for 3 heavyweight titles. There is nothing stopping these guys taking the fight. The only explanation is that they are scared stiff and don't fancy the job. If they win, money will be the least of their worries. But they would rather turn down the opportunity. For what? It's not like they have other options is it?
Well Miller reckons he does have another option...the nfl. With your logic fighters should be prepared to fight for nothing for the opportunity of winning the title. The reality is it's a business and you and me wouldn't work for nothing.
They are being offered millions, not nothing. Let Miller go to the NFL. He has nothing to negotiate with. Yes it's business, but would you turn down a gilt-edged investment opportunity? Do you understand risk vs reward?
