I think Bowe may have been considered the best heavyweight in the world when he won the WBO title because if I’m not mistaken, the other belt holders at that time was George Foreman and Oliver McCall. Anyway it’s all very subjective. It’s like saying Wilder is currently not a real champ because Joshua holds 3 belts to his 1 and is rated by most as the best heavyweight in the world even though Wilder won his belt before he did.

I’m pretty sure that was the case; Ruiz or Byrd had a strap but nobody ever believed that Lennox had to fight them to prove who was better and I certainly don’t remember ever really clamoring to see those match ups.

Correct both Ruiz and Byrd were considered a joke.

Lewis was undisputed champion, and we all wanted to see him face the best. The best wasn’t Ruiz or Byrd.

So to other people’s points, it’s not subjective who is the real champion.

:beer-toast1: I think AJ is probably just as much of a money-grabbing, maneuvering, elitist snob as most of the rest of upper echelon pro boxers, but hellz ya! Such as Foreman or Lewis are probably contemptuous of the lot!!

Yeah Bowe was still high rated then after beating Hide for the WBO belt, though he only made one defence and then vacated the belt which many people did early on in regards to the WBO belt. Mercer vacated the belt after 1 defence, Moorer too vacated the belt, never making a defence, then Bowe vacated the belt, then Akinwande did so too to fight Lewis, then finally Sanders vacated the WBO belt to fight Vitali.

Disagree about the analogy with Wilder at least Wilder holds a version of one of the major recognised titles. WBO belt in the 90's was more like the current WBA regular championship belt. So it would be like saying Charr isn't a real world champion which is true.

Some good fighters won the WBO belt but it was nothing more than a marketing tool for TV, or a stepping stone in their career. Fighters dropped the belt when they got a shot at a major title or dropped it when the WBO enforced a mandatory the champion didn't like and nobody judged them for it because well it was only for the WBO belt and some like Moorer just didn't see the value in it and never defended it and rather fought guys in non sanctioned fights over paying the sanctioning fees.

Its all a bit of a mess at the minute. I think we need to wait until early summer to see what can be made for late summer or Autumn to see where all the dust has settled then we can figure out who has beaten who and who is available to face who. The way i see it the Fury Wilder draw thrrew a bit of a spanner in the works and with Hearn pre booking a date at Wembley the fighters like Whyte knew Hearn was in a bit of a position so hes holding out for maximum money and when he wasnt the least bit impressed with his 1st offer he has really dug in.

I dont know whats going on with Miller though he hasnt earnt a shot, he hasnt earnt a big payday but is now flapping at the chance. I wouldnt mind if he felt it was maybe a bit soon and as good an opportunity it may seem a loss to Joshua on home soil could set him back more than the risk is worth. I dont know. But what ever it is the offer he has recieved will be good enough cuz hes got litereally nothing to barter with other than the fact that Hearn and Joshua may be getting a little desperate now. But if Miller dont fancy it right now what was with the mouth? Dont badmouth a fighter, talk about his mother, get right up in somebodys face and talk **** to them and then not want to fight.

But its as simple as this. If any of them were seriously confident they beat Joshua and take all his belts they would be taking these offers because the rewards, the belts and the A side status comes from beating Anthony Joshua, NOT from facing him.

the current goofballs in football drop poasses that hit them in the gut like i have never seen before. partly because they believe you can teach someone to catch, but you can't teach speed. i disagree. if someone cannot catch by their twenties, after having played for about fifteen years, they are beyond teaching.

Yeah I just watched it, it was a pig dog of a game, I've had more excitement and entertainment at the dentist.

Brady, I think he'll go down as one of the greats, not sure about the greatest though.

it's very different , no era has ever had a handful of guys run away from 4 belts.

No champion like Wilder has been so terrified he turned down over SEVEN times his highest pay.

The era is different with social media fighters can more easily call out guys and ride their name which everyone is doing with Joshua, even Whyte now.

Joshua has subtlety surpassed Mike Tyson as the most feared boxer in HW HISTORY with just daring them to sign a piece of paper that guys are running away from opportunities no boxers usually get with crazy rematch Claus stipulations that guarantees them enormously amounts of money they won't see without Joshua.
