I was following everything at the time it happened and that's the story as I remember it.

    No way.

Holmes was green as hell at that point, and Ali had enough left to beat Foreman and Frazier.

    Yes way.

Holmes was giving Ali hell in sparring for the Foreman fight.

Watch the documentary When We Were Kings.

    Do a little research.

Ok so whose mouth did it come from?

Also lets pretend that Ali took sparring seriously and didn't allow every man and his dog to look good against him ;)

    LOL!!!!!!

Watch it yourself and do a bit of reading on the matter.

Ali was not messing around in sparring and Holmes from the short clip looked sharper. Holmes also mentioned he believed he could have beat Ali years before their actual bout.

Holmes would have given Ali hell in 74 and that is a fact!

Sparring and an actual 15 round fight are quite different propositions. Even you know that.

Yep, and we both know how great a fighter Holmes was.

That jab and speed of his would have troubled Ali even in 74. I believe Holmes would have given Ali hell at that point.

A couple of years would mean around around 1976 at the very earliest?

He would have given him hell in 74, Holmes looked the real deal already.

I'm not saying he beats him but I believe he would have had Ali in fits.

This. If Larry wouldn’t have show mercy to Ali he could’ve definitely put Ali on his back, but instead he did just enough to force a stoppage.
