I'm no trainer. But was I, the very moment I see my pupil actiing like that I say it "you continue like that, I stop the fight". And if he continues, I stop the fight 100% sure. I dont want a widow on my conscience.

I think we need to think a lot about the trainers though, rather than just Cheeseman here. These UK high guard master trainers are ruining the potential of so many good British fighters. I really do believe that we have to put a lot of these rounds, particularly the early ones down to his pathetic trainers' tactics. It wasn't until the second half that Cheeseman changed a single bit of his game. By then it was too late. This is a recurring theme among a lot of British fighters. Cheeseman isn't elite, but he's better than this. The trainer isn't unleashing his potential and it is a shame.

I never write fighters off, Cheeseman is only 23 years old but I don't see how he improves.

He isn't big puncher, he is technically poor and just took a beating that will stay with him for a while, that was a career shortner.

 

Had I to train Cheeseman, the first thing I would do would be to teach him to walk in the ring. He was mostly following garcía. You will never corner a guy that way. He needs to automate his steps. And it is weird, because it is something that he should have mostly learnt during his years as amateur. He's young, but he should walk much better than that in the ring. That's his main flaw (appart from his facial defense, I mean).

I agree with you. I thought ted was above this level but the fact he’s obviously multiple levels below makes me worried, I don’t know what happens from here! He’s made a lot more money than people from where we grew up so I hope he’s happy with what he’s made!

Well, actually I think that it can be made a good boxer of him.

But definitely, he should change his trainer. You cant go into a ring with this plan and this preparation and... well, we all have witnessed this.
