Kovalev seemed to get a 2nd wind in this fight around the 7th/8th rounds. Conditioning was key to this W.

Brilliant performance by Kovalev, especially after losing via KO in the first fight, everything he's gone through, everything he's currently got hanging over his head, and at this stage of his career. That shows serious mental fortitude. He boxed really well and I only gave Alvarez 2 rounds. Thought he dropped his hands a bit too much, but he was much more defensively responsible in this fight than he was in their last encounter. He definitely should've gone to the body more to tire Alvarez out and bring his hands down though, had he done so I think he would've got Alvarez out of there. His stamina and chin held up well, so maybe over training has been an issue for him.

What was Alvarez doing? I was begging him to throw more body shots. Kovalev schooled him and I don't think it was all that close. I'm more sympathetic to the 120-108 card then the 116-112's.

I was wrong, I thought Kovalev would lose the rematch because he was Shot2 ****. I am sorry for doubting Krusher, now hopefully he fixes his problems outside the ring before they make him waste time.

Kovalev did well to keep his cool and box from the outside, which limited Alvarez's ability to counter or to work the body. By not forcing the issue, he played to Alvarez's main mental weakness as a fighter- his tendency to coast during tactical affairs.

Smart change of tactics. Buddy M. did well to come up with that approach, and Kovalev did well to implement it.
