It’s a great fight! He’s taking this at the right time imo. I’ve been a fan of cheeseman since I watched him in the Amateurs and my trainer said he would go very far.

It’s not like Garcia is some unknown southpaw banger.

This could well end up being foty candidate

A little tougher than Eddie expected. Bet he ends up signing Garcia to a co-promotion

May have been booted, but great shout. Impressed by Cheeseman's heart but he was well beaten.

Cheese should retire unless he wants to become a revered journeyman cos that's all he's good for now

Presuming that fight has not aged Cheeseman or should I say taken years off his career, he can improve.

A long lay off now, with last night's reality check in place, can insure Ted can still move up the levels.

His heart and effort was faultless yet his boxing brain was reckless and at times non existent.

Stick in Cheeseman because I'm still a fan.

He looks about 50 years old Cheeseman. Cleverly blocks every punch with his face.

The big cheese fought more like a babybel last night, not with heart and desire (in which he had bags of) but ring IQ.

This is happening a few times lately with promising fighters arguably not being stepped up right from domestic to euro level. A fighter needs to have a plan B at this level when plan A isn’t working. They have to be able to make adjustments instead of being persistent with a plan that clearly isn’t working. If they have no plan B, do not match them with fighters who are capable of negating plan A with ease. Someone did not do their homework with Garcia.

Cheeseman will only improve from this defeat (I’m expecting Ritson to do exactly the same). He’s only young but he’s clearly very hardworking and strives to improve in the gym. He needs to add variety and patience to his offence for me. He’s too reckless and takes needless shots.

He went out on his shield and nobody can fault him for that however some scrutiny should be placed on the corner work because if that was my lad in there 10 rounds down and a face like a squashed cauliflower I would be seriously thinking about pulling him out. Talk of retirement is a little premature there are still British Matchroom money fights and if he can nick a scalp no reason why he cant have another tilt for honours. When Garcia goes on to win a world title this loss will look much better over time. I'd like to see him in with Eggington next for his comeback nice crossroads fight for both fighters.

Tony Sims is really getting away with it, I really don't rate him as a trainer.

Surely Sims would have been asked about this fight, Hearn would have offered them the opportunity and as the trainer of Cheeseman and he would have had a huge say.

Sims sees what's happening in the gym, he should have some idea about Cheesemans level and what he is really capable of but that aside..

What was the gameplan? Did they even have one? Or was it just "walk him down, wear him down"?

Also, What on earth were those corner instructions? "Keep going forwards" basically, it didn't work at any point but there was no plan b, no sensible advice, I didn't hear Sims mention the word "jab" once, maybe I missed it.

I'm not a fan whatsoever but If that was Joe Gallagher in the corner he would be getting absolutely slaughtered, it would be post after post of abuse aimed towards Gallagher.

But for some reason Sims seems to swerve any criticism as a trainer, for example.. when Conor Benn got slapped around by that journeyman in the first fight and ended up looking like the elephant man, everybody jumped on Benn for being poor (and he really was) but Sims didn't get a mention.

Anyway, my point is Sims is bang average at best and is very very lucky to be training some of these fighters.

Good call! Garcia can box but I still expected Cheeseman to grind him down. His workrate over 12 impressed me as much as anything. With him and Dr Rattail, the Spaniards are on the rise

As a fan of boxing you can't criticize Team Cheese and Eddie for taking the risk imo.

They may have made an "error" as he got beat down but we would be hypocritical if we criticize them for it.

Garcia wasn't exactly a known quantity, he had only fought nobody's in Spain. He was taking just as much of a risk as Ted.

Ted was already British champ and he thought he was good enough for the next step which is European level isn't it?

Can't complain about Anthony Yardes bum fights and then criticize this bloke for having a crack.
