Two tough guys in their respective but never enough to win the big one .How's Quarry do against the man who took a young Joe Louis 15 ? We'll call this non title 12 rounds
Interesting matchup. Farr was in with some of the greatest punchers all-time!! Pretty nice boxer, never flustered. Fought as LH starting out.Quarry too seemed to be a smaller heavy.Only beaten by the best ring had to offer. Some great wins. Lyle,Mac Foster,Patterson,Thad Spencer,Jack Bodell, This would really be a hard one to pick,so maybe wind up a draw.
It is a hard one to figure imo to. I don't see either man being stopped and both had the necessary skill s to give the other a hard long fight. I'll plum for a tight decision with Quarry's counter punching getting him the win .
Oh Quarry for sure, Jerry did everything better, and what was Joe Louis big wins? he would have had hell beating Jerry's opponents! Remember this is prime for prime, and Jerry's prime and best, be a lotta problems for alotta folks! What bothers me some is 1967-73 only Muhammad Ali & Joe Frazier had more World top ten opponent victories as Quarry. And people always put they opponent down "After Jerry beat them!" Floyd Patterson (decked 4 times) Number #1 contender Thad Spencer (Decked twice) Buster Mathis Ranked #6 (30-1 record), Undefeated number #1 Contender Mac Foster 24-0 (24 knockouts). (Quarry was they only fighter to Ko big Mac) Europeon & British Commonwealth Champion Jack Bodell #7 World Boxing Council ranking (64 Seconds). Larry Middleton #7 (22-1-1) AND SOLID 1972 World Contender, -1972 WBA-"FIGHTER OF THE YEAR" Undefeated third ranked Ron Lyle (19-0, 17 Knockouts). And the fearsome first round Demolition job of Sixth ranked world puncher Earnie Shavers 46-2 (45 KNOCKOUTS!) -Not a bad resume! huh?
