No, he isn't. He was hurt several times before, his opponents showed he is vulnerable (Wlad, Povetkin, Whyte, in the amateurs) and he is lacking some fundamentals like head movement and footwork. Furthermore he is the three belt champ and can sell out a football stadium with 90k specatators. Everyone wants to fight him because of the biggest payday in their career but obviously AJ/Matchroom isn't interested in fighting the elite as he could lose (his belts) and then would have to rebuild his profile. He is the biggest cashcow in boxing right now apart from Clenelo.

A bogeyman is typically a very skilled guy with bad promotion who brings nothing to the table than a high risk so he is avoided.

 

If, as you rightly point out, the money men fighters are usually inundated with boxers wanting to take them on, then something has to be different in AJ's case: either Matchroom are not making good enough offers to tempt or they don't want these match-ups as much as Hearn likes to suggest....

 

1. Wilder made an offer for a fight in the US. Joshua/Matchroom doesn't want to fight in the US. The Wilder vs. Fury deal shows that it's not that hard to make a fight with Wilder.
2. Hearn said Fury, Wilder, Miller and Whyte received offers. Strange that nobody accepted yet. Especially Whyte. This is a warning sign imo. I think they made really bad offers. Let's face the truth: Wilder is more dangerous than Joshua for Fury.
3. Making an offer to Wilder and Fury and expecting them to agree immediately is naive. They fought and the result was a draw, i think a rematch is more realistic and everyone wants to see that. Including some kind of unfinished business for both (Wilder nearly knocked him out, Fury was robbed on the cards).

 

AJ isn’t a bogeyman. People just want to take advantage of what he brings to the table and that’s it. I don’t know how anybody is justifying Whyte turning down the money he did and the 60/40 for wilder and fury. Problem is it’s the popular thing to criticise everything the A-side does and we’re saying that now.

 

So do you think 5 million is a bad offer for Whyte? If it’s a bad offer, his next fight should be on PPV and no questions should be asked? And why are fury and wilder asking for 50/50, is that fair aswell ?

I don't think 5 Mio. are a bad offer for Whyte but i am not the guy who decides what is good and bad as Whyte has to accept and if he thinks he deserves more than that he isn't accepting and we don't have a fight. Easy. Turning down an offer doesn't mean the guys are afraid of Joshua and he is some kind of a bogeyman. It does mean either those fighters are deluded as **** turning down such good offers OR Matchroom trying to lowball their offers.

Joshua has enough opponents for two or three years right now without fighting Fury, Wilder or Whyte who as mentioned turned down offers.

Miller would probably fight Joshua for a cheeseburger (just joking, i like him and he is good, he can beat AJ). Pulev would easily step in collecting his paycheck. Both Kabayel and Schwarz are ranked Top 3 at the IBF / WBO. Usyk could also be a possibility. There are few other names i can see in the ring with AJ If Wilder/Whyte/Fury won't agree. Like Michael Hunter for example.

 

He's not unbeatable but I can't see anyone who has the tools to beat him amongst the current crop.

Really too many egos and the AJ Wilder was down to egos nothing more..

I'm not even talking about Wilder but his management not wanting to deal with Hearn which was nothing to do with AJ.. I can grantee that fight would have taken place if both teams put their egos aside and nutted out a deal..
