thats what a lucky plan is just waiting for a single punch to land all night and only counting on the luck of it landing . Alvarez waited for only a single punch all night in hopes that it would land that is callled waiting on luck.

Look, no matter what he is a highly skilled operator. "Elite skills" is provably a bit of a stretch but he is very skilled on top of being extremely naturally gifted and a phenomenal athlete. Lets not forget how old he is, even though he is very fresh for his age. Regardless of his skill level, which is very good at the least -- yes he certainly could lose to Bivol and or Gvozdyk. There are a plethora of reasons and ways for fighters to lost to opponents, regardless of how skilled or not they are.

hey man i agree Alvarez is skilled, me saying he got lucky is just an opinion its not a fact. For all we know Alvarez can come back and beat Gvozdyk and he can show us he truly belongs up there . Like i said its just my opinion not a fact

Kovalev has an immaculate skillset when he uses it, and is capable of outboxing anyone, well he used it last night. It's that simple. Alvarez was terrified to let his hands go because Kovalev neutralized everything he attempted. Alvarez was scared he'd walk on to a counter behind Sergey's jab, while his jab had been taken away. Also Kovalev worked through his stamina issues, and let his hands go, his offense also served as his defense. Kovalev and Buddy executed the perfect game plan, much like Teddy and Gvozdyk did back in December.

too big a generalization. Simply put he relied too much on the one punch and didn't try to set up his punches or win the rounds.

Hands up i confess I was also that stupid, I didn't assume any thing about the camp but I did assume he was spent, I also didn't spot how 1 dimensional Alverez could be.
I must say in my defence Kovalev looked to tire in the middle of the the first fight so badly that he was eating combo's I took that as a clear sign of decline.

I think part of the problem was the Ko win in the first fight. This is like a boxer scoring an early knock down and does nothing but head hunting the rest of the fight instead of boxing and setting up the KO.

Last night it looked like ALvarez kept on head hunting and in his mind he will land that one shot that will knock Kovalev out or hurt him so bad he will be open for the KO punch. In his mind he did it the first fight and he can do it again, it will happen.
