Hunter just a different level from the rest of the American fighters and I think schools them of course of 12 rounds. I actually think Takam is bad matchup for Hunter though, stlyes wise Takam could cause him problems. It's a very intresting and intriguing fight, one that may backfire on Hunter.
Hunter is a spoiler, that' all. He's not on any "other" level. He's just awkward enough to give people problems. His dad was the same way. Beating an occasional 40-something "name" like Ustinov is about where Hunter will probably remain. But he isn't a world-beater. Takam probably stops him.
How he handles Joshua will go a long way in helping me decide where he ranks among active American heavies. Presently it's difficult to say.
I think Breazeale is actually the second best HW in America but they're close enough to have a discussion about it. You're right though; it does reflect the sorry state of the current division especially in America. At least in the UK they have Joshua and Fury. This used to be America's big thing but now we ****ing suck. The standards for HW dropped and we dropped with it. Here's a good question. Is America's decline in boxing the reason for this weak HW era? Why is America so bad right now?
Wilder and Miller, never before has there been so little talent and skill. American heavyweights have never been so poor.
Breazeale is more proven at the moment then Miller ,he has a better key win in Izu and Mansour back in 2014 who was a very tough southpaw ,better then current Rivas ,Wilder even avoided him ( not that's news ) . Top U.S HW's I see are . 1. Wilder 2. Breazeale 3. Miller 4.Kownacki / Martin ...I still say Martin would have won a 12 rounder but ?? 5. Hunter Don't consider Ortiz U.S HW.
If Joshua wasn't around everyone would say how great it is and how everyone is talented. with the presence of only ONE actual dominant champion it must mean the division is weak ,look back at any dominant era with M.Tyson and Klitschko and fans will just go into land of make believe and just label a era as weak if one guy stands out. Its why the 70's was so popular and got over hyped ,no dominant guy was actually dominant in the 70's for to long ,and you had back and forth fights with Ali mainly the face of that era . This era is actually a record breaking era of prime talent in one place and more coming soon with just Ortiz, Povetkin and Klitschko going into the tail end of careers ,that's only 3 guys who would be still be top 10 easily right now and those guys including Pulev fought for years. Ortiz just has a crap resume but hes a very skilled fighter. Joshua is not even 25 fights in and the era is already getting labled as terrible ,wait until he go's 35 fights in without a loss potentially and you will see how the dumbed down fan hasn't changed since the 60's at least even with the social media technology in their laps... lol
Strong trio... plus a big man who COULD (though it's too early to say) turn out to be really good. Or he may be eliminated as a serious contender in just 4 months time! And then we have several less experienced, but promising, young guys ready to make a move and climb up the rankings… such as Yoka, Ajagba, Joyce, Dubois, Hrgovic, Dychko, Kownacki. Most of these will likely stumble along the way, but maybe one or two will make it all the way. Only time will tell. Oh, I nearly forgot Usyk… can't wait for him to move up and test the big boys. That should be interesting to follow! To be honest, I haven't been this excited about the heavyweights in a long, long time!
