There's no smoke without fire though. Two fighters have left Barry now both citing the same reasons. Frampton regarded the Mcguigans as family so for him to up and leave like that must mean something was wrong. Ditto this female boxer.

The Mcguigans as a family have all their grubby little fingers in the Cyclone Pie. All the way from his wife to all the sons right upto Barry himself. So its not inconceivable to see them dipping into the company and fighters pockets far more than they should be. It really isn't.

This. Great post.I remember my dad telling me similar stuff about them... I love my family. But if i found out they was screwing me over for money then i would do the same as Carl.
I would never trust the McGuigans.

In the words of the irascible rogue Steve bunce I’m not being an “after timer” but I called this years ago.

You can’t have one family covering everything from promoting training and managing the fighter. This goes against everything to protect the fighter and make sure he or she isn’t getting rinsed!

How can you have the son training, the dad managing, the aul doll doing or and even Blaine doing the promoting?!!!!

    Why is Blaine the promoter????

Even if they started off well meaning eventually they will gang together. It’s why I’d never work for a family owned and run enterprise. You are never going to come out on top.

All I can say is that whatever happened it will all come out on top. If what I’m hearing is true then as a big Barry fan I’m very very disappointed.

    Let’s see what happens.....

    This.

A manager is supposed to be a fighters shield. The manager should have nothing do with the promoter or trainer as his job is simply to protect the interests of his client.

A manager, trainer and promoter all being family is a huge conflict of interest.

Barry is manager ,on the board of cyclone promotion Uk ltd and attends a lot of the trainings sessions he is a busy man. He denied he was a promoter on a televised interview but it’s there to see on list of company directors.
It has been amazing this last week the amount of people who have come forward with offers of help and tales of woe after dealing with Mcguigans

I agree to a certain extent mate, at the minute I am a coach/manager and my brother got his promoter license and also helps with the coaching. We are the only people in Aberdeen doing professional shows so it would be hard for us to get another person to promote the fighters.

Saying that we don't tie the fighters into Promoter contracts or take money from them to promote them, we just need that license to be able to run shows for our fighters. As their manager/coach I would always be looking to get them signed up to a big promoter when the time was right for their careers.

You need to look up the word relevance pal, then you need to scroll up and read the thread title, then you need to re read my post, then you need to have a little think about it all in your own time...

    Lots to think about eh
