Which heavyweights that moved up from lower weights retained the same power as they moved up?

Not too many I imagine.Satterfield? Sheppard? Choynski? Fitzsimmons? Maher?

 

All retained their power, it's just their opponents could absorb it better.

 

Archie Moore still had some pop at heavyweight. He hurt Marciano in there fight. Then again, heavyweights were a lot smaller back in those days compared to the last 30 years. Michael Spinks crushed Cooney who was a big heavyweight. Out side of Spinks I would say Moorer. He could straight up bang.

 

That's the truth,they were hitting on bigger men,not such a big deal in the old days but a vital factor in the modern era.Haye made the transition successfully, but he was coming up from cruiser not light heavy.

It's a bit of a technicality, but I'm not sure you can really say CHoynski moved up, since he pretty much always fought at Heavyweight, even as an amateur. Though he certainly carried it against bigger opponents, and if anything wasn't as impressive against smaller opponents as you'd except from his success at Heavyweight. Maybe just what he was used to.

 

To be fair to Haye his inactivity at heavyweight didn’t help. Fighting every 7 months to a year was never going to be enough to keep him sharp, since in his fights with both Wlad and Chisora he showed ring rust.
