That’s true. That was his fatal flaw. I remember reading an article about Thad before the Quarry fight entitled, “La Dolce Vita: Will Thad Succumb To It?” We know the answer now.

Wow...like the matchup think they would split their first two fights and I wouldn’t guarantee it but I think Oscar would win the the third. I put them both in the top 20-30 all time prob side by side.

That wasn't Jerry's problem....Thad had also been running his mouth pretty good for the WWofS cameras....calling Jerry a "dumb fighter". Jerry didn't verbally retaliate, but he sure let his fists do the talking in the ring.

Oscar, by 8-7 verdict. Something says he does enough to offset anything Jerry had to offer.

And, amazingly as I found out many years later, he went 0-7-1 after that before retiring. ??

Spencer was still talking years later, stating that had he trained seriously he would have beat Quarry. Which I doubt, as Quarry would have counter punched him to another easy win.

Bonavena was the more consistent, stronger, better conditioned guy while Quarry was overall better with a bigger heart .. I always felt Oscar was a bit of a baby and a frontrunner while Quarry had an all time heart .. best for best I go for Quarry by decision in a tough fight.
