Without PED would Evander Holyfield have been as successul in the heavyweight division as was?

Nope, it is unfair to assume everyone was ever juicing without evidence.
Many did not get bigger after already seeming maxed out.
Sure many used, but nobody presents any actual evidence about what percentage used regularly, dabbled or never used anything.

It is guesswork if a large minority dabbled, used regularly, if the majority of boxers used...Nobody knows.
It is nonsensically naive OR irrationally cynical to assume only those caught used...Or that everyone always used!
Hell, some like Bowe did not even do the legal training that could have helped him out.

Also, Tyson fought & beat pretty good competition during his '80's prime.
You could tear down almost anyone's HW competition, with the exception of maybe '70's Ali-& even he had some very weak defenses.
Anyone who pretends Tyson just fought "winos from the Ali" is very biased.
Just looking at the record of who he fought-& in the fights in the fights immediately before his bouts-can see that he fought pretty good competition.

so until evidence proves that all fighters failed tests we can’t presume it could be when nobody was testing for this even though it appears that juicing was wide spread in other sports?

many did not get bigger? Bigger compared to what? Look at any weight chart. For generations the vast majority of champions would meet recommended weight requirements for their height of the wider public during their primes. Very few exceptions. This all changed. Heavyweight boxers are usually off the chart and in an unhealthy weight range according to these BMI charts. It’s new. Now the exception is when a heavyweight is in the chart. It used to be the other way around.

How could one go about finding out exactly what percentage were unnaturally enhanced? How can you go back and test for that?

A good starting point might be let’s look at all the unprecedented stuff that became common. in this era we had grandfathers winning titles and challenging for titles. We had fighters prolonging careers competing for longer at world level. We had muscle bound guys losing their hair. 40-80lb weight increases. A fighter like Orlin Norris going from heavy to cruiser to heavy and cruiser. As whelk as this we had A whole new size of heavyweight finally being able to make a mark of the division having never managed it before. Tall long guys could fill out without losing wind... or strength.

it is not naive to accept practices had changed. All drug cheats pass drug tests until they are caught. And juicing is not an exact science.

I never have or ever shall pretend Tyson fought winos from the ally. He was best placed to mop up a stagnation of confusion in the division with an exciting style.

“Approving someone of something without proof”...

Did you miss the well documented story about him having steroids delivered to where he lived for 15 years under the name of Evan Fields?

    Just checking....

Did that prove it beyond a reasonable doubt? Like a test would? Do you think he is on steroids now? He seems to have a similar body now years after he stopped boxing.

When you add in his weight gain to make HW and the widespread use of PEDs at the time in boxing it’s clear cut.

The vast majority of boxing fans are convinced of his PED use. You are not and that is fine.

The majority of boxers from the late 80s to 90s have freely admitted to being on PEDs. So what you are saying is that you think Evander was one of the clean ones. Where is your evidence for him being an exception to the majority?

When I have seen evander recently he looks back to the weight he was at when fighting at CW.

A 187-190 Holyfield may have done better in the 70s and prior eras, but he definitely would've suffered in the late 80s and 90s eras.

I doubt weighing 187-190 lbs that he could have taken the solid shots from Tyson that he did

You really shouldn't throw s&it like this out there.

You can not possibly back up that claim.

He weighed 198lb at 17, you're telling me he only put on 8lb in 4 years? Pre-roid Tyson would have been splattered by pre-puberty Holyfield.
