I have Meny Many times Ive also asked for anyone to name anything dangerous to his opponent that was found in Tony;s wraps No one could Not the CSAC nor the lying POS that started it all he just walked away An innocent man's good name & career were tarnished by a blatant LIE!!!!!!!!!!
I think he reached his potential. We know how good he was. He could beat older guys who were great, but not really prime greats. Lost to the top guys. Below great.. Probably Hall of Fame.
That is a good assessment of Cotto. I think he rates just below A level. Imo he lost to Mosley. If you look at the Mayweather fight, it wasn't really that competitive, certainly not close. Examine that Mayweather fight and you'll see that its one of the few fights that Mayweather actually turned aggressor against a perceived A level destroyer, only Mayweather knew Cotto wasn't on that level and thus didn't respect him in that manner. If Mayweather would have fought Cotto in his usual defensive posture, Cotto wouldn't have layed a glove on him. Cotto was very good, but certainly not great, I agree.
Surefire hall of famer. Loses marks through never being or beating the top dog in any of the weight classes he was 'champ' in.
Performed one of the best chicken dances/stanky legs, after lil Pacquinho lit em up with an uppercut. In the grand scheme of boxing, he embodies mediocrity. Besides the Mayweathers, Pacs, Mosleys, Clotteys, usw... he pales and fades away like a sneaky fart. Pauli M gave him hell and showed REAL warrior spirit in this fight. Clottey was walking him down, making his famous not-hurt-face, so he had to resort to wrestling and hurt Clotteys knee. Martinez had two bad knees and wasn´t even allowed to wear orthopedic braces. Yuri Foreman? same story. Judah? If you can´t beat em, hit em low. I will remember him as "Kneeguel Hoetto".
He will be remembered as a warrior for his era, but not a great. A great would not be ground down by Margarito like that. His best win? Maybe an old Mosley.
I'll remember him as the midget against Canelo. Seriously, I haven't seen such a physical mismatch in a non-heavyweight bout since Corrales vs Garcia '99. Later I saw Hurd vs Lara. That was also a sight.
I dont agree. If Margo wouldn't have cheated. You change the outcome of that one fight with Margo and his whole career would have been looked at differently. Just based off that fact that he would have be Welterweight king and no questions behind the fight like there is now. Cotto would have beaten J Clottey would wider. Who knows what would have happen after the 4th round with Pacquaio.
He should be remembered as the Indivdual who took a potential career ending beating ( we all know who and why) but didn't shy away and went and won the rematch in some a manner
