Just checked Boxrec today and I no longer see a scheduled fight between Jermaine Franklin and Booker. I don't know what happened there but I did read an article indicating that Booker was being considered as Fa's next opponent, but the fight couldn't be made because Booker asked for too much money.
Alonzo Butler is scheduled to fight 2-33 Michael Davis on February 23rd. Now that fight is pretty meaningless by itself - but I'm guessing that's a tune-up for Butler (who hasn't fought since late-2016) and there will be a quick turnaround for his next fight. Zo Butler has been in a few camps with Haymon fighters. It might be asking a lot to turn him around in a week's time to fight Stephan Shaw (who is on that March 2nd card with Fa and Ahio) - but maybe he will be announced as Teslenko's next opponent? Beyond that - Erkan Teper, Malik Scott and Alexis Santos are all looking for opponents for the March 10th Boston card. I suspect Santos will get an easy rebound opponent - but Butler might be a fit for the other two.
Those are actually decent choices for opponents for Arias and Ahio. Ed Fountain was beating Lenroy Thomas on the Wilder-Stiverne undercard until he gassed and gave Jermaine Franklin a reasonably-difficult time for a few rounds before Franklin began to assert himself and eventually stoppd Fountain. Robert Simms outpointed the bigger, stronger (but slower) Joe Cusumano last year. He's not the best-conditioned boxer, though, so I think Arias will likely tire him out and stop him in rounds 5-8. BUT I've heard that Zakaria Azzouzi - not Newfell Quatah - will be facing Fa on March 2nd.
If he knocks him out in the first round I don’t think they’ll have much of choice but to step him up significantly.
It would be a big accomplishment if he did. Gibson has been used a step-up fighter for both Teslenko and Simon Kean. And while they both managed to win convincing UDs over Avery - neither were able to stop him.
I noticed on Boxrec that prospect Alante Green (3-0-1) has been added to that same March 2nd card that already features HW bouts for Ahio, Fa, and Stephan Shaw. Not sure if Alante is in the same class as those prospects but he was in the USA national Golden Gloves tournament a couple years ago as an amateur.
Avery Gibson might last a few rounds. He went the distance with Kean and Teslenko. In fact Gibson has not been stopped in 20 matches. A KO win here for Makhmudov would be impressive. The distance of the fight is 8 rounds. I'll guess Makhmudov finishes in 3-4 rounds.
I think this fight will be more like a training to get him into fights with more rounds.. Ofc he can KO him, but I don't think it will be the right decision. He needs rounds.
Is that official? Carman has no chance, I was really surprised that he even knocked out Kean... I highly doubt it he will make another surprise plus if I remember right Romanov was scheduled to fight in Russia so Carman won't be at his backyard in Canada.
