Speaking of Simon Kean - Boxrec is reporting that he has a scheduled fight in March. I don't recall the opponent's name.

Here's a HW name we haven't heard in awhile...

    Yasmany Consuegra

He was a Cuban prospect from a few years back who strung together 14 or 15 straight wins - but was then stopped in consecutive fights by Breazeale, NoFire and Szpilka in 2015.

And that was the last anybody saw of him until, apparently, January when he beat a 0-11 opponent.

Was that fight the start of a serious attempt at a comeback or was simply a tune-up so that they can feed him to an up-and-coming prospect (e.g. Junior Fa, Teslenko, etc.) or a fringe contender who needs a rebound fight? (e.g. Charles Martin). Time will tell, I guess.

I have a question someone may be able to help with.

I live in South Korea and may possibly head to Japan for Tokyo 2020.

Who are likely to be the key SHWs and HWs in next years Olympics?

I used to follow amateurs reasonably closely but have been so preoccupied with work stuff in recent times I really haven't much knowledge about who is making waves now.

Pulev vs Helenius fight in jeopardy, there are rumors that Helenius didn't sign the final papers.

Yasmani beat Daniel Conuegra in Colombia on the 18th January, it was his first fight in more than 3 years. He can't fight in New Jersey but he can elsewhere because he is suspended infidenetelty there. Well, I think it was start of a comeback, he is only 34 years old. He was more than a decent amateur in his day, despite his loses few years back he can make some noise in the pro scene. He is past Cuban Junior National Championships of 2001, semi finalist of 2002 World Junior Championships and winner of Copa Miranda amongst other things. Altough it was long time ago, the experience always stays with a fighter.

Really hard to tell, there is more than an year till the next Olympics and you probably know how fast the things are changing in the amateur boxing. Some guys may turn pro other may show up in the last minute. If the current trend of getting super good Ukrainian boxers is still going, we should see this guy: Viktor Vikhrist as one of the guys with a medal.

Also the British lad - Clarke is the best UK HW amateur right now I think. I don't have any ideas who would represent countries like USA or Russia. For my country - Bulgaria, the one to watch will be Petar Belberov. I doubt it that he will do something significant on the Olympics but for sure he will be there.

For US it will be Richard Torrez and for Russia , it will be Veryasov, Dronov and Sadam Magomedov. They are good amateurs.

Darmani Rock stopped Steven Lyons in 4 rounds. About what I expected - though it's a bit of a disappointment that Rock (who weighed in at 273 1/4 lbs) - hasn't slimmed a bit.

Fighting on the same card - Sonny Conto stopped his (predictably-overmatched) opponent in the 1st round.

    No surprises here.
