Oscar was older at that point. After Sturm and the Hopkins disaster? Who thought he would be too much? He was passed his prime and Floyd knew it very very well as he always did. He knew how to handpick and to his credit he was good enough to win in that position. So I give him credit there, but against greats like Hearns or Leonard he would have been stopped. He would not have fought them. They were offensive guys who did not have the weak attributes of some of the guys Floyd fought or when he fought them.

Wilder has one punch ko power. So did Bonecrusher . A lot of guys. Tyson would have stopped Wilder in one or two. And that is not just talk. Wilder is what is great now. and in the 1980s he would have been a hard puncher who had a weak chin which would have been exposed. Hagler and Hearns had each other. They didn't need UFC or McGregor or handpicking some little guy to fight a month ago for how much money? The fans are Floyd's fool. Boxing has to improve or UFC will take it over. It isn't even a question. The fans have to demand more for their money and more from boxing.. Start with less titles and no catchweights.

I guess you're not aware that PBF fought the majority of his career with Arum who told him who to fight.:deal:He didn't gain freedom until he left Arum for the Baldo fight. Even still Bob Arum didn't want to work with PBF and Golden Boy Promotions, they had a long standing feud. The fight was made quickly for a number of reasons. Pac had started to do random blood testing which he was against it back in 2009 as Roach stated in the video I posted. Pac also needed money and both fighters were running out of time and the demand was at an all time high.

You call it handpicking for PBF yet Oscar was fighting at a weight in which he was a title holder in 154 pounds yet when Pac does it at a weight Oscar was drained 147 with no title and older it was a great win. Do you see why you can't be taken seriously and are a hypocrite?

Stop with the bull**** green Canelo. Canelo had like 42 fights and he green? Mayweather just was that good and made him look green. Everybody was picking Canelo to win, and I'm pretty sure u did too.

Let's be real here. Mayweather is an ATG for sure. But come on man...

I mean let's really be honest here. Mayweather was a risk averse fighter. He was not the type of guy to really fight anybody, anytime, anywhere.

It was all about money and maximizing the reward and minimizing the risk. Which is what most guys do anyways. Hes in the majority for that.

Not everybody can be like Danny Jacob's, Jean Pascal, Shawn Porter, Oleksandr Usyk and just fight everybody anytime, anywhere. Most fighters dont have that mindset.

Any ATG Welterweight should beat Pacquiao anyways. Mosley and DLH were faded by the time they fought Pac. That doesnt count as much and they were small Welterweights anyways.

Let's be honest now. Pacquiao won the Flyweight championship. Hes too damn small to be the ultimate test for a great 147 pounder. You really think that guys like Trinidad, SRL, Hearns would make such a big deal about beating Pacquiao. They tear Mannys head off and sent his jaw into outer space. Hes too ****ing small. Pac even in his prime might not even beat Spence because of the size issue.

The fact that Pacquiao could even be competitive with FMJ is unbelievable.

the guy had no amateur experience, he learned how to box in the pro circuit. ive commented pretty accurately about his progression and where he would end up eventually. i put canelo right where he is right now, having beat who he has beat, over 3 years ago. you got to know what it is that you are seeing.

This boxing stuff is hard. If it was so easy anybody would get off the couch and start beating top level guys for millions of dollars.

Most guys who turn pro at 15 or 16 dont reach their final form until 10 or 11 years into their career. You dont just wake up and master the trade of boxing.

Some exceptions do exist, but they're rare.

Why did he need the fight at 152 on top of that? Yeah he was not the Canelo who he would later become. What year was that? Yes I picked Canelo to lose. He was younger and he had a weight disadvantage, which was probably more mental than physical.

Oh God, this thread is almost 10 years old. XD

Manny is in the books as an ATG as an 8 division champ.

Lol, come on man, are you rewriting history?

You do know that a rematch between Floyd and Oscar was scheduled but Floyd demanded the rematch at 147? That’s why Oscar was on his way down to 147, fighting Forbes at 150 as a tuneup on the way to 147. The Floyd fight fell through so Pac was a replacement brought up from 135 with only 1 fight there. So Pac moved up 3 weight classes within 1 year to defeat Oscar.
