Next in the series after Jack Dempsey In three categories Best win: In terms of quality of opponent, and manner of victory Most important win: In terms of historical significance Most spectacular performance: Not really the quality of the win, just a great display of the champion's ability. (Though this is more for when he have a decent bit of footage) My picks Best win: Sam Langford (1 Jan 1916), this really seems to have established him as a top fighter. Langford was aging but still considered one of the best heavyweights. Most important win: I was split over this or the above mentioned Langford win, which really seems to have established him as a top fighter. However I'll go for him initially winning the colored championship against Sam McVea in 1915 Most spectacular performance: Not a great win, given his age and inactivty, but his KO of Denver Ed Martin sounds pretty brutal. I can see good cases for several other fights. Here's the footage of him online, if anyone hasn't seen it This content is protected
Wills kinda reminds me of Cleveland Williams, and looks kinda "chinny", like the Big Cat was against truly big punchers.
Best win: His first win over Sam Langford, who was still an extremely dangerous fighter. Most important: His win over Fred Fulton, because it established him unequivocally as the standout contender. Most spectacular: I would say Fulton again, because Fulton was still seen by many as the top contender, and Wills just demolished him. You could also make a case for his 1918 KO of Sam Langford.
