    Yes but so do circumstances.

That's cute that you put in the caveat of "in your original weight class" lest anyone call out your hero Pacquiao for seeming like a feather-fist in recent years (at least by the raw numbers).

Level (and toughness) of competition is the primary extenuating factor here, not size. In both Thurman's and Pacquiao's case.

Keith ''One Time'' Thurman has come in as heavy as 162 before and he definitely carries big power and he can crack on the move too.

But let's be real here the biggest puncher at 140-147 in recent times is Lucas ''One Time'' Matthysse who would've had an even more impressive career if not for corruption and bad luck. It makes me sick to my stomach.

"I must say that Matthysse is the hardest puncher I have been in the ring with.''

--Devon Alexander (Devon also fought savage punchers Maidana and Randy Bailey)

DL: That is amazing that you have been fighting above your weight class and you have faced every monster puncher at 140: Miguel Cotto, Zab Judah, Marcos Maidana, Lucas Matthysse, Ruslan Provodnikov.. Who is the hardest puncher of that bunch?

DeMarcus Corley: I would say Matthysse. But I would be remiss if I left out Freddy Hernandez who knocked me out at welterweight. He can punch. I was winning the fight, I just got caught in the fifth round.

Well in absolute terms isnt pretty much everybody 175 and below featherfist?

I'm talking pound for pound power here.

KO %'s go way down for virtually all boxers when they start facing the upper echelon of the division. Everyone knows that.

Well, to be fair, Spence KO'd Peterson, Bundu, and Algieri... guys Pacquiao, Danny, and Thurman couldn't... So if Spence walked around calling himself a KO artist, he'd be right. And I'd pick him to KO Thurman, Porter, and Danny.

True, which is why if you can stop the top guys you are a big banger. Gassiev for example stopped 2 of the top 5 fighters at 200 pounds. The man can flat out bang.

the top guys of the divisions aren't 'all equal', across the divisions you know. A stronger division will have a stronger top 5 or so.

Is this really something you feel the need to discuss, or disprove keith being a heavy hitter? Seriously, who cares what boxers think they are. Besdies, Spence has KO's 21 of 24 opponents. You can call him a KO artist if you want. Or anyone can.

Nah he's not a big hitter. Talented big punchers knock out talented fighters, not just bums. Him failing to KO top fighters is exactly why he isn't a big puncher. And the thing is, he's hitting these guys flush.

    This.

It is why there are so many heavy hitting prospects and low-ranking fighters yet it is hard to maintain that perception/reality once you start facing top 10 or better types time after time.

I really think you have jumped the gun here. Boxing is a weight governed sport. I wont insult your intelligence. Anybody with hundreds of thousands of posts on a boxing forum doesnt need to be lectured on the effect weight has in boxing. So I'll keep it short, and honestly you already know and understand what I'm about to say. But I think you're blinded by your hatred or rather dislike of the greatest fighter of the last 30 years hands down.

Boxing is basically a sport that gives out handicaps. The HW division is the open division that has the best fighters in the world. For those who need a handicap for size they fight in the other 16 divisions. Therefore, everything below HW is on a pound for pound basis. In absolute terms, Thurman couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag. And guys like Lemiuex, Inoue and GGG cant crack on egg. Though pound for pound they are all massive hitters. Put them in the non handicap, open class of boxing and they hit like little fleas and get swatted away like an annoying gnat.

So yes, of course the topic of Thurmans power is solely a pound for pound discussion. Because why even discuss his absolute power? Its non existant. That's why he cant compete without a handicap.
