I think so. This is the longest drought in boxing history without a single ATG HW. None of the current three claiming to be the real champ would've scratched greatness in any other era. How long will we have to wait for another great HW? Is there anyone on the horizon? It's been 16 years.

Once there was no one any better than Corrie Sanders and Lamont Brewster to fight, Wlad dominated. That's true. And that's my point. The HW division has been atrocious for a long time.

The HW division hasnt been atrocious for a long time. The issue is that the US HW scene has collapsed and the US is no longer the number 1 in HW boxing. Boxing has slipped a lot in the USA, and a lot of American fans are using this write off the division. The whole world doesnt revolve around the US. The British and Eastern Europeans have taken over, and many US boxing fans are sore over that. In terms of Wlad, you have brought up 2 losses that happened before his 10 year undefeated reign as champion. To be clear, the majority of great HW champions have atleast 3 losses and many have 5 or 6. Wlad with his 5 losses is average in this respect. During Wlad's reign he beat EVERY single top challenger. He BEAT 5 undefeated top 10 challengers. He BEAT the undisputed CW champion coming up. His resume is absolutely stacked with the best HWs over a 10 year period, in 19 consecutive wins. No one, not even haters like you can point to one single fighter he actually ducked. Wheras with other top champions of other divisions there are numerous examples of fighters that they ducked.

Wlad was not undisputed for 10 years, it's so revisionist to pretend Wlad was thought of as the best HW in 2004/5. He was stopped in both 2003 and 2004, it was a long time before people had faith in Wlad and he was only really undisputed when Vitali retired in 2012 until he lost in 2015 because Vitali returned just when Wlad started unifying. Wlad and Vitali are definite ATG's and were the best of their generation whether you think it was weak or not but i think people like to forget that they lost several times and as a result people were always rightfully skeptical.

It's closer to the truth to say the Euros are sore b/c the HW division so clearly and desperately needs Americans to be decent, much less great. I never said Wlad and/Vitaly were not the best of their era. I said their era was weak. I'm saying their era and the current one are the weakest in the division's history. There have been and are no ATGs from either of them.
