Roldan was a very tough cookie, and hung in with both Hagler and Hearns in critical MW fights. GGG was more tactical and a long distance fighter. (His best fights were/are "Canelo" and are "controverial") Who wins???
interesting fight and I think GGG would be in a fight for a few rounds, but eventually he starts to land on Roldan and gets him out in about 7 or 8 rounds. Roldan was unlucky to face the better of the 1980s fighters Hagler,Hearns and Nunn.. Had he fought guys like Barkley I think he does better for some reason.
He'd give GGG a good physical fight for a few round's, he was a tough guy .But the harder punches of GGG takes effect and Roldan is stopped in around the 7 th
That is the problem with Roldan. Hearns said he was the hardest puncher he fought, yet Roldan sacrificed defense for his wild style. I think with other opponents he is a champion and has a few defenses. I don't think he could have 5 or more defenses, his defense was too porous, but he could have had 2 or 3 and then be stopped. But he had that style and power to beat anyone if he connected. He fought in a very good era.
He's quite tailor made for GGG. Maybe his awkwardness would pose GGG a few problems, but otherwise I think Golovkin's jab quickly finds its mark and the bigger punches start to come soon after. Stoppage inside 4-8 rds, depending on how long it takes GGG to find his rhythm against Roldan's somewhat awkward style.
No comparison GGG is the better fighter in every department aside from toughness and power. GGG would get hit less than Hearns did and Roldan wouldn`t be able to hurt him, Nunn fought inside v Roldan more than GGG would, he`d simply pump his jab in Roldan`s face and slip most of his shots pretty easily, no comparison, I feel he`d eventually stop Roldan in the later rounds.
I like Roldan ,he was a guy who got stuck in ,a decent fighter. In a few different decades he'd maybe have picked up a belt .He just had the luck to face Hagler and Hearns for title shots .
Well there was no comparison ability wise between him and Hagler and Hearns but he still gave them both plenty of trouble. I’d expect GGG with his better fundamentals to take this but I suspect he’d be drawn into a physically tougher fight than any he’s had in the modern day.
In every single fight in which he got hit and hurt, Roldan tried to quit immediately. Tito and Carlos themselves said ROLDAN lacked the heart. GGG hurts Roldan in 1. Roldan tries to quit pn his stool is pushed out for rd 23, and summarily stopped.
Roldan was like Cyclone Hart . A terrific puncher who started fast but if his opponent didn't wilt from the early onslaught they lost confidence and the tide would turn. Golovkin survives some tough early rds before coming on strong and stop Roldan in 5 rds.
