After reading Tyson Fury's comments on twitter the other day regarding him improving in the region of 40-50% in the next fight, it got me thinking.. If we look at the first Wilder/Fury fight we can clearly see Fury still carrying around a few extra pounds of flesh, is that extra mobility he will gain from being sharper and fitter in the next fight a better advantage than Wilders chances of improving his accuracy and finding the target harder and faster this time??

Can Wilder improve his power, timing and accuracy to the extent where he can keep Fury down, or will Fury just be even harder to hit?

Whichever wins, for me wins the fight

EDIT - and how??? We know fitness and dexterity training works for the mobility issue but what can Wilder do his has never done before to improve his only way to win??

depends on who rises above their respective mediocrity. both have plenty of room for improvement.

how so??? and respectively what makes them mediocre??

edit - personally, Tyson weight is what caused his lesser (mediocre?) performance
Widler, he seems to be consistently mediocre.... So again, How???

Fury`s mobility isn`t medicore at all and his ability to slip shots is even better, certainly better than any other heavyweight`s defensive skills in todays game.

Wilder didn`t use feints in his bout with Fury I expect him to feint more next time to offset Fury slipping his shots, the first bout was a case of inches and fractions with Wilder`s right hand landing and he was getting closer with it wit each passing round.

I have to admit I think Tysons "flappy" gloves intended to increase that distance ever so slightly... There was more than one occasion where DW came very close to hitting the button

Wow, what is it that he`s doing so wrong in there? Seems like a clever boxer to me.

I noticed him doing that with his right hand keeping an active guard not letting Wilder know what he was going to do with his rear hand.

its all relative. compared to you and i, of course hes a hell of a fighter. compared to the best of what has come before him, he is quite ordinary. tell me, what is it that you see in him that you would consider special, in relation to what others are doing?

His active guard, his head movement is great he moves odd so he`s very hard to read and his ability to slip punches is great, he also moves geat for a big man and makes the most of his 85" reach.

active guard and head movement are things a boxer at any level should already do. his ability to slip punches is average, he was almost killed last out, he has trouble getting out of the way of his own punches. its his ability to run from punches that is great. he moves good for the sloppy big men fighting today, hes an ogre compared to slippery heavies of other eras.

Well Fury has mobility and accuracy over Wilder as well as Boxing skill and mental strength. All Wilder has is power and paid off officials.

Slippery heavies from the past can be counted on one hand and most of them would have been a lot lighter than Fury is now.

perhaps, but thats what makes them extraordinary, and they were slippery against other fast men, not the mastodons lumbering around the ring today. most people wont realize how weak the hw division is today until a real a+ level fighter comes along and cleans house. its just a matter of time, 5 years tops.
in my estimation, aj is the most complete heavy fighting right now, and i would pick more than a handful of fighters from the last 25 years that would wipe the floor with him.
