Im a lean 6’7 weigh 230 with a 85 inch fairly quick on my feet. What process will I need take to get to this
Get your ass in a REAL gym ASAP. You might think 21 is young but in boxing you're time is ticking...in fact you're already fairly old if you are coming in with no prior boxing experience. A lot of these pros have been in the gym since they were 4-5 years old. Find yourself a gym with some kind of decent amateur program and a legit fighter or two. I've been to gyms where someone your size could just walk off the street and run the place with or without experience. If you find a spot like that...leave and find somewhere better because you'll never gain anything other than an overly inflated ego. If you can't find a decent gym where you live...then pack your **** up and move somewhere else. Everything starts in the gym....so just get yourself in there and see what you got and if you really wanna get punched in your face for a career.
Im motivated to get my Grannny out this southside of Chicago so if that means getting punchrd in the face for a career let it be Il know l can take one. Never to late to do none in this world or learn trust me. Path starts Monday thank you for your reply May God Be wit you-
This might help you. http://boxinghelp.com/illinois.html Don't know how up to date it is, but maybe it will help you find a gym to get started.
1-Eat clean (know your macros and your diet plan and try to stay natural (don’t take no process **** or lab supplements) 2-PLAN A REST DAY (Some people take a day off every week or two days off which they do absolutely nothing. Rest is as important as training, your body needs rest, don’t overpush it) 3-Don’t be obsessed with it (There were time where I wanted to go beyond my limit where I didn’t go out to eat with my friends or family and I was super strict with my regimen and it wore me down. Try to find a balance, don’t be super strict and don’t pig out when you’re out on the weekend.) 4-Everybody hits an error, you cannot always win. You might have your self esteem broken sometimes if you got your ass kicked or you feel like your training ain’t good enough. Know deep down that every time you train, you get better and learn something new. Even if the process is slowed down, it’s always good for you and that’s progress. Best of luck to you.
1) Never spend time on a computer asking people what you should do 2) Train in a respectable boxing gym. 3) let me see.....do things like 4) run 5) beat on the heavy bag 6) learn how to throw punches on the heavy bag 7) learn how to throw punches at opponents that throw punches back at you 8) learn how to dodge and slip said punches 9) do calisthenics 10) have matches against live opponents when your trainer says your ready 11) have a plan b in case it doesn't work out for you
lol I think/hope you're joking. 50 is definitely a little long in the tooth to be taking up a combat sport in any competitive way. 6 miles a day aint too shabby at all though. Keep that up. I'm 35 and only get in about 10 miles per week anymore haha.
Oh come on @RockyMarciano you can offer me more than that Im fast on me feet, can roll like a cement mixer , can dogde a bullet and all that stuff !
Simple answer is, go to a good amateur boxing gym. If your as big and as athletic as you say you are the trainers will be more than happy to put you on the right path.
Windy City is a good gym in Chicago, seen some of their fighters at events. Northside is another gym worth checking out. You got plenty of opportunity to cut your teeth on quality training in Chicago.
