Cruiserweight and Heavyweight thread.

I read on Boxrec this morning that Nick Asberry is scheduled to fight in March. I don't recall much about his opponent except that he was neither particularly-experienced nor successful in his career to date.

Some of you might recall Asberry being one of Tyson Fury's primary sparring partners for Klitschko. Everything seemed to be going well for him until he got caught & stopped by Malcom Tann (who hadn't fought in 9+ years at the time) about a year later. Since then I can recall Nick having one or two "TBD" dates on Boxrec that were quickly scratched, but I know he's been in a few camps since that late-2016 loss.

 

I can recall Torrez starting a professional career a couple years ago - but then he became inactive after just a couple of fights. I always wondered why that happened.

 

Evgeny Tishchenko vs Thomas Oosthuizen, 22.02. Ekaterinburg.Big step for Tishchenko, who is in the game from only 6 months and now will fight with someone from top 50, who has draw vs Chilemba and win over Mchunu.

 

Tishchenko couldn't crack an egg at HW, i doubt he has the power to trouble anyone with a decent chin at CW. Oosthuizen is a tricky rangy southpaw with some decent skills. Very tough task for a first fight at a new weight class.

 

Peter Kadiru will turn pro soon. He is one of the biggest prospects in Germany and beat Dubois in the amateurs. He has won several gold medals during his amateur career and was aiming the 2020 Olympics but decided to turn pro in the end of 2018. Looking forward to see this guy, he is a huge talent, born 1997. We'll see how can deal with his heart issues. Hope he's fine and will have a good start. Great guy!

 

Dubois in amateurs have nothing more than 1/4 finals in competition out of Britain.So, beating him in amateurs is not something "woooow".Youth olympic champion is bigger achievеment.

 

Pretty big upset just took place in South Africa...

Ruann "The Giant King" Visser, who is 6′ 9½″, just lost a ten-round unanimous decision to Elvis "Bomber of Bulawayo" Moyo, a Zimbabwean standing a relatively tiny 6'1", in Pretoria.

Visser came in 14-1 (13) record and was on a hot streak, while Moyo was 8-5-2 (4) and clearly brought in to lose.

Interestingly, the best two names in the win column on Visser's record were also present on Moyo's - except Moyo had beaten Knife Didier by UD and Osborne Machimana via MD, whereas Visser had knocked them both out.

Moyo was ranked 114 places below Visser in the BoxRec world rankings.

 

Tishchenko will get a bit stronger. With his style, he doesn't need to be a KO artists, just respected for the power he has. He is a tough guy to out point. Fury is just an average puncher, yet look at his success.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Tishchenko will win any of the major 4 world title belts, but he has a chance to upset people in the top 15.
