The youtube channel that posted this great vid states Lee was nowhere near the level of a modern elite MMA fighter, but Conor McGregor stated Lee would have beaten him, the youtuber also states Lee could have been a champ in the bantam weight division in today`s game, do fans agree that Lee could have won a world title in todays MMA world?

Bruce Lee is a legend, but he wouldn’t even be a top 10 fighter.

Same for JCVD, Segal, Jet Li, Norris, etc.

Actors don't generally do well when the fights are not choreographed.

What competitive fighting did Bruce Lee ever do ? Does anyone know and have they watched him in any full contact fighting ?

If the legends about Lee are true, that its at least fair to say that he was unusually gifted as an athlete. I mean, you can gather that from watching that crazy footage of him playing table tennis with nunchucks. That's the sort of extravagant behavior that would impress Conor McGregor.

He was also an early visionary of what would become MMA, and he was an adopter of ideas like sprint interval training etc. that placed him well ahead of his time.

But lets face it, even in the weakest early days of the UFC, the higher end guys would crush him: Royce, Remco Pardoel, Marco Ruas, Oleg Taktarov, Don Frye, probably Ken Shamrock too. Lee was even smaller than Royce, and unlike Royce he wasn't grappling from the time he could walk.

P4P he was ahead of the early MMA days that were really primitive, there was even a boxer fighting with one glove and ironically Jim Kelly from enter the dragon got to the semi final in an early UFC match that`s how bad those days were, Royce was miles ahead of anyone in the UFC at the point, as long as you were good at BJJ you could beat any oter form of martial arts, Lee`s Jeet Kune Do was the first form of martial arts to mix other martial arts forms together, which would have gave him an edge in the early UFC because they could only excel in one martial arts form and he was taught Judo by Gene Ledell for a while which would have also helped Bruce in the 90`s, dreadful era.

That`s true, the nearest I`ve seen to him in a real fight was a sparring match where he loked really good but as the youtuber said who was discussing the match he wasn`t up against a quality opponent at all.

Jean Claude looked far worse than Lee in respective matches they took part in that were shown on youtube, Segal knows a type of Akido that has been debunked as a useless martial arts form compared to Lee`s Jeet Kune Do style, Jet Li is just an olympic gold medalist in forms martial arts which is more or les just a type of martial arts ballet, Norris never took part in a full contact match, he was a world champ in point karate where you kick near to your opponents body or head and score a point, Lee`s kicks looked far better than Norris`s sparring on youtube.

I disagree. Shamrock and the other Pancrase fighters had really strong grappling. Suzuki, Funaki, Shamrock were all outstanding catch wrestlers. All three would torture Lee on the ground. Whatever limited judo Lee picked up from Lebell would be useless against guys that good and that strong.

Its easy to laugh off guys like 'One Glove' Jimmerson or the sumo guy who got his teeth out. Within the first 10 UFCs you had guys like Ruas, Don Frye, etc. who were one dimensional by today's standards but were legimitately really, really proven in their disciplines. Lee proved nothing. He was an actor and not a fighter, despite his iconic status. Saying that a guy who won scripted action sequences would beat guys who had trained and fought for a decade + in real combat is pretty silly imho.

Lee`s Jeet Kune Do moves are used in MMA fights today, but Shamrock would have been far tooo big for Lee.

Lee was just an actor. He had less than 5 years of formal MA training. The only semi-confirmed altercations he ever was in was going life and death with some random Kung Fu practitioner in a back alley and sucker punching some drunk guy in a YMCA. Go read his self-defense manuals, they're an absolute joke. His fighting credentials are about as legit as guys like Count Dante, Ashida Kim and Frank Dux.

He weighed about 50-60kgs and probably had a glass chin, he would be no hope against somebody like a Frank Shamrock In the early days of competition let alone GSP in more modern times

Mark Ant is one wacky YouTube marathon away from posting a thread asking who would win: Mike Tyson or a silverback gorilla?

Lee would have destroyed Van Damn and Frank Dux, he had a wing chun bout v some master or the other and was so unhappy with his performance he decided to develop Jeet Kune Do, some of hios moves are still used in MMA fights today.
