You've absolutely no idea how either one of them would do against a big LHW.

GG has never even fought a SMW, and Canelo has only fought one, a guy who's basically European level.

Del Valle caught Roy with a great punch. It's boxing. It happens. But in my honest opinion, he'd never have gone down, had his back foot not slipped hard and fast on the wet canvas.

Despite Roy not putting on an amazing eye catching performance, he was in complete control of the fight, where he landed some great right hands to the body.

 

That was Roy's 3rd weight class.

Del Valle wasn't special, but he was a tough southpaw.

GG has been caught flush by lesser guys.

Roy won the fight easily.

He won almost every round.

 

They might be, but Del Valle was a big, strong LHW who was also a southpaw.

It's how they match up stylistically.

 

Maske would have dazzled McCallum. Dazzled. Mike would have quit in Round 11 and hugged him, acquiescing to the greatness that was Herr Henry.

 

Fundamentals or not, if what a boxer is doing works, then it works. RJJ proved this against high-level opponents at various weights.

Also, Toney was P4P 1 at the time. How much better can you get?

You feel he had the tools to be an ATG? I think you're being a tad bit harsh on Jones here.

It's a hard one. I think Jones is a huuuuuge puncher but Jackson could well be top 5 p4p or even better. Jones was the naturally bigger man by a bit but Jackson carried incredible power up to middleweight too. Jackson easily beat Thomas Tate but didn't knock him out where as Jones sparked him quick not that much later. Jackson actually named Tate as having the best chin he ever encountered.

It's an interesting question.

 

Yep that's what I'm getting at, Jackson may have hit harder P4P but Jones was the bigger man and arguably hit harder in absolute terms.
