Ye it’s not really jumping 2 weight class. It’s like fighting at 147, then fighting at 140, should we then make a big deal if their next fight is at 147 because they’re jumping up weight class again? Mikey has proven he’s a 140 fighter, therefore it’s 1 weight class unchartered territory.

Every fight of his career prior to three matches ago was at 135 pounds and below. His last fight was at 135. He is a lightweight title holder.

He is moving up 2 weight classes for this fight. He literally is.

Kell Brook had fought at Junior Middleweight for the Jones rematch and the Robles fight.

Soooo, bad example on your part?

He’s also had 2 fights at 140, and fought at 140 just 2 fights ago. So if he fought 2 fights ago he only gets credit for 1 weight class, if he fights a fight after, he gets credit for 2. Doesn’t make sense to me.

That’s like saying if Holyfield won the HW crown, then dropped back down to CW, and goes up to HW again we should all make a big deal because he’s “going up 1 weight class”? Come on man.

all valid points. all that matters is we all know mikey has to overcome this size difference.

    Wow.

He is debuting at a weight class two divisions above where his last fight took place.

    135 to 140 = 1 weight class

    135 to 147 = 2 weight classes

Everyone knows he won a belt at 140.

Are you unaware that his last fight was at 135? There is no explanation to what you are saying unless you don't know that fact. Now you do.

It's not about making a big deal about it, like you say. It is about literal reality.

the lengths some people go to in order to diminish a fighter that threatens them is insane, so far as to argue against logic.
you are arguing credit, the man is arguing plain facts. could it get any clearer? mikey just fought at 135, his next fight is at 147, thats 2 divisions regardless of any other facts that can be argued regarding credit deserved.

Sure, then Kell Brook isn't an example.

It still stands... it's only one weight class that Mikey is going up to fight Spence. Hell, even Spence has said as much.

Guy, it's not complicated. AT ALL. MIkey has competed at 140 not once, but TWICE. So 147 is only the only new weight class that's completely new to him.

exactly, its not complicated at all. 2 divisions between last fight and next fight, nothing complicated about that, yet youre still intent on complicating it for the sole purpose of diminishing a fighter. nothing complicated about what is happening.

Pac only had 1 fight at 135 before fighting Oscar, so basically he jumped 3 weight classes right?
