Since Dillian Whyte is fighting Dominic Breazeale, Joseph Parker is fighting Derek Chisora and Michael Hunter Jr is fighting Carlos Takam, both Usyk and Povetkin are left without any other option except of facing each other. Would be a great fight! Hope it will be announced in the near future.
I'm well on board with this fight if it happens. To fight Povetkin in his first fight at heavyweight is a statement of intent from Usyk.
This puny cruiserweight Usyk is gonna learn some little hard truths, if he steps up to fight the superior Soviet heavyweight. Get the Kleenex supplies ready it's all going to end in tears for his fans. Lol.
Is that because people have been picking usyk to beat Whyte? Is it because people have rightly pointed out that Whyte has never been in with someone who can use cute angles can box on front foot and backfoot as well? Is it because usyk’s first fight at heavyweight will be better than any of whytes best win’s if usyk beats povetkin?
Stylisticaly Povektin could be Usyks biggest style challenge at HW. Povektin is one of the most skilled HWs currently and his disadvantages at HW vanish when fighting a smaller oponents.
Nah forget Whyte, I have headache talking about Whyte. Can we stop for a few days. Usyk has been propped up to death. He has shrines in his name, and unequivocal assertions have been made about his imminent dismantling of the top 5 heavyweights based on absolutely nothing. Heavyweight is a different breed, people will see.
Different breed as in roided up walking punching bags whose only advantage over Usyk is SIZE and POWER
Now that is a fight... It could go either way. Usyk might be shaky and nervous at heavyweight if he's not had any warm-ups first. And Povetkin is still in my opinion the third best heavyweight after Joshua and Fury. He's showed he's not some old guy who's 100 years past it. He was seriously dangerous and that's without the drugs. Not to mention he landed on Joshua while having to deal with the huge distance between the two. Usyk has shown his chin is strong but he hasn't felt anything like Povetkin's power. I really wouldn't be surprised if Povetkin pulled off an 'upset' here. If that's what you want to call it. Usyk can't keep Povetkin at range like AJ did, that's what makes this so intriguing. I fancy Povetkin for some reason here. He picks his shots and he's got very accurate hooks that come at very strange angles. This is the wrong fight for Usyk. Forget Ortiz being the avoided fighter. Povetkin is about to take that place.
Would be an interesting fight, Usyk v Povetkin. Even though he’s an old man now, I still think Povetkin is in the top 4 heavyweights currently, if Usyk beats him then that’s a statement, and fair play to him, with respect, he could have taken a David Price etc. Huck took Povetkin the distance, and Usyk stopped Huck, so in theory no reason why Usyk can’t take this fight too. Of course he will have to prove it at this level, but I think the South Ukrainian street fighter has a far better chin than many on here realise, it’s one of his many attributes.
