"My grandfather fought for 21 years," said Cream, 58, a salesman who lives in Pennsauken. "He fought through the Depression, while he was working other jobs, and he was older and had more losses on his record than any other heavyweight champ when he won the belt.

"He's an example of faith and determination and perseverance, and the statue will be a magnet for students and will connect people to his legacy. It will be a combination of education, and inspiration."

They should have asked him as well "Honest opinion, who would win between your grandfather in his prime and Larry Holmes and Roy Jones in their primes?"

Man Jersey Joe was a great fighter. Excellent footwork and balance. Was so close to beating both Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano. In fact, a lot of people thought he did beat Louis and he almost certainly would have beaten the Rock had it not been for Rocky's Suzy Q in the 13th.

A nice gesture to a proper fighter.

Earlier I was wondering what if Ray Robinson had skipped Maxim and went for the big fish in Walcott?

Plus, here's some trivia....did you know that Walcott stopped both Harold Johnson and his father, Phil Johnson?

Interesting idea, but I wouldn't give Ray much of a hope TBH. Especially considering Charles could only go 2-2.

    About time!

I love Jersey Joe's boxing. The cakewalk he used in order to counter Louis was simply beautiful.
