    Afternoon all.

So the backlash begins after the fight between Anthony Joshua and Jarrell Miller has been announced.

Biggest unkept secret is out the bag and after all the smokescreen nonsense of offering fights to Fury, Wilder and Whyte - Joshua's team have settled on Miller.

I have just one question for you, if this is what Anthony Joshua thinks of the fight with Miller:

8 seconds and 1 word to destroy your own sell of the fight...

Will you be watching and will you pay PPV/DAZN subscription for this? As this brings in to question again the whole concept of PPV.

He is playing the long game, getting US exposure. He is forfeiting short term money, for the longer overall investment.

Ah yes, taking that well-trodden path of UK HW's impressing the Yanks.....oh hang on.

Plenty of foreign HW's have had success in America. Even if they had not, why wouldn't he try? Oh yeah, his potential biggest rival is American if he beats Fury? The guy is already massive in the UK, why not try to break in to other markets?

You clearly have an odd understanding of the business of boxing.

    Ok Cus.

Yes, I'm sure there have been lots of Brit HW's who have been lauded stateside over American fighters. You've got me convinced, really and truly you have.

If Miller didn't already get his ears boxed off from Grow Crop I would buy. Seems Miller has had a very strange route to the title I will be streaming.

Yes, I will pay for it. Due to:
    1. I am a boxing fan
    2. It's the number 1 HW fighting
    3. Spending 20 quid and having a quiet night in watching the boxing is a lot cheaper than going out and will actually save me money.
    4. I wont be a cheapskate and risk watching it on some jerky stream for it to cut out.

I have DAZN, and I'm an American, so I'll get it relatively cheap regardless. But if I lived in the UK, the answer would be an emphatic no. That being said, this is a decent fight, have no issue with it whatsoever.

    there is no long game
wilder is the only american heavy
    read esb homepage
joshua is getting heavily critisized for fighting americas number 2 heavy
    number 3 heavy is kowanacki
    number 4 is ruiz jnr
    number 5 martin

im just winging it off the top of my head but america boxing market has shrunk severly over the last 20 years to the extent 300k viewers for a heavyweight title fight is good numbers
    300k to 500k
    those are pathetic numbers

i dont understand the fighting in america as an investment

you have a fighter who can earn 20 million a fight in uk fighting in front of big stadiums and you give it up to make your fanbase fly 3000 miles and pay over the odds to watch you fight in america fight in your opponents backyard with his ref and judges.

to use an an anolgy its like man united leaving old trafford and moving to new york

I think its a decent fight but anything other than Wilder and Fury is going to look silly at this point. Millers compulsory trash talk over the coming press conferences will no doubt attract many on the fence and I think it'll do decent numbers. What does Miller do that AJ hasn't seen before? Nothing really, Miller's best bet is to just really rile up the sometimes mentally fragile AJ just like Whyte did.

The UK market has a lower ceiling which AJ has just about reached. The US market has a much higher potential ceiling if, big IF, he can find the right dance partner and the fight grabs the attention of some of the US fans who have tuned out of HW boxing. There are also other benefits, for example, US success would support Matchroom US and their deal with DAZN and AJ's corporate sponsors may be keen to see him grow his profile in a key market and could well incentivise him to do so.

Anyway all in favour of your idea to deport Man Utd. Please tell me that you can make this happen?

It is a reasonable fight, champion versus contender.

I don't see anything about it that justifies paying subscribers being forced to pay out again when they have already paid their subscription fee.

You don’t need to be lauded, look at Lennox, he wouldn’t have made a fraction of the money he did if he’d stayed in Europe. The UK might have caught up a bit, but America is still by far the most lucrative PPV market.
