I can understand Frank Warren's enthusiasm with Dubois but I have to concede that he is bound for heavy KO loss in one of his future bouts. You can work on power but you can't on chin in the professional boxing. Dubois is overhyped because of his muscular look.

Dubois has no talent whatsoever. None.

Davtaev/Dubois would be nice. Tough to predict, both can pop.

My guess is that his opponent will be Alonzo Butler who has a tuneup fight this weekend.

This won't come as any real surprise...but I just read that Robert Alfonso beat Ray Austin.

But what is a surprise is that this bout went the full 6 round distance. Let's not forget that Gerald Washington - a "sheep in wolf's clothing" if ever there was one - managed to deliver Ray Austin to the local hospital's emergency room after 5 rounds in 2016.

I wasn't really expecting Alfonso to blast Austin out of there in Rd 1 - because that's not Alfonso's game - but I was expecting that over the course of a few rounds Mr. Alfonso would do enough harm to a 48 year-old Austin who took the bout on short notice - to stop him or at least cause him to quit on his stool.

Alfonso is a really skillful guy, and he's awful, awful hard to land clean shots on - but he's not building the best case for himself with promoters. At least not in the "excitement" department. With so many young, exciting HWs on the rise, he'll be easily-overlooked.

I'm very optimistic about Davtaev's future, but Carmack has always been a 1st or 2nd round KO victim in his last 7 or 8 fights. It's at least slightly disappointing that Davtaev is facing such an opponent for his 16th fight. But this is probably because he is sufficiently-dangerous that other fighters do not wish to fight him.

Incidentally - here are the weigh-in figures for Carmack and Davtaev.

Apti Davtaev 254 vs. Richard Carmack NA

"NA" as in "Not Available". Perhaps Carmack has finally gotten so heavy that he exceeds the range of the available scales?

Was this the same Edwin Rodriguez who was supposed to be fighting Fonfara soon on PBC? (Fonfara retired - at least for now - last week).

But isn't it logical that Eddie Hearn would require it before letting Lucas Browne get a whiff of a good payday against David Allen?
