Robert James Brant vs. Khasan Uvaysovich Baysangurov & Mikaela Joslin Mayer vs. Yareli Larios RBR

Robert James Brant vs. Khasan Uvaysovich Baysangurov, 12 rounds @ middleweight

 

I've actually seen more of Baysangurov than Brant, which puts me in the minority, but I don't think many people (even non-casuals, who follow the sport closely) have seen too much of either of them.

 

Brant is the only "puncher" in this match-up... (and he's more a boxer-puncher, if anything)

 

I can't stress enough how much of a feather-fist Baysangurov is, for those unfamiliar with him and wondering if Brant's chin will be checked tonight. Only having 7 kayos in 17 bouts doesn't even begin to paint the picture. Of those stoppages, two were corner retirements, once came on a body shot versus a guy with a dozen stoppage losses, and one came over a Hungarian (and more tellingly he fought a few Hungarians and Georgians - basically the Brazilians of Europe - that lasted the distance)

Skilled boxer, though.

 

Round 1

Baysangurov resembles a deer in the headlights as Brant comes out like a house afire. Big two-pieces from Brant. A stunned Baysangurov just picks off what he can and circles to his right. Brant is hissing through his teeth as he ducks & rolls in front of Baysangurov, sizing him up, lashing him with big right hands uncoiling like a serpent. Baysangurov looks totally overwhelmed & shell-shocked, pawing a few jabs into the air or nervously hooking up top without letting his left arm drift more than a few inches from his face before reeling it back in. Brant is diving in and needling the body with right hands. 1-2-1-2 up top by Brant.

Utter domination in the first. Baysangurov needs to wake up and his testes need to descend if he's going to last twelve, let alone take Brant's title.
