Holding and leaning is using your weight advantage why a refs today so eager to break it up? Yes I understand if it gets to long but at the first sign of a clinch or lean the ref jumps in At heavyweight the refs should just leave it Wilder was weak and frail when fury leaned on him...……………….
Some referees don't. I've seen a fight in which the guy trying to get out of the clinch (Green), got a warning instead. You can't have that of course.
Because Boxing is a sport that requires spectators in order to make money and thrive. If every fight is full of too much hugging and holding the spectators become bored and switch off. Its in the interests of everyone in boxing to limit the amount of holding and leaning that takes place, because its a real turn off and really boring to watch. So a little bit of it is ok and within the rules, but excessive amounts of it should be stopped.
Because it prevents fights like Okolie-Askin and Okolie-Chamberlain from happening. Is anyone really interested in watching those fights again? No.
If every boxing match was like those fights, no one would watch and the sport would die off. An extreme example but worth making
I was wondering why everytime an Olympic wrestler punches their opponent the ref stops the match n they get disqualified. I just don’t get it.
i was wondering when someone was going to suggest the fact that its illegal, might clear up some things.
If Fury was the GOAT,and the master boxer you suggest he is then he wouldn’t need to rely on using his size in such a way.
Holding and clinching is illegal. Refs allow it too much, actually. More warnings and point deductions needed.
