Yes there has but still not as bad as Renold Quinlan vs Eubanks Jnr for the IBO super-middleweight title...what a farce that was.

It's a proper WGAS fight, but I really don't get the outrage.

It can't be about a leading middleweight testing the waters at 168 against a top 30-40 type, after numerous issues outside of the ring. There have been far more cynical mismatches in recent boxing history.

It can't be about how corrupt and inept the WBO is. Surely that was obvious the time when they literally allowed a guy from the crowd to fight for a world title, or when a dead bloke kept on mysteriously rising up their ratings.

No-one will give Saunders any credit for winning the fight, and we'd much rather he was in there with Andrade, Golovkin or Canelo. However, if this fight puts gives him in a position for bigger fights, it's a useful means to an end. If it doesn't, it's not like he'll be getting an open-top bus parade with his new world title.

Ignore James, he is on a bizarre one man mission to convince people that Golovkin is really Wlad Klitschko trapped in Marvin Hagler's body!

Golovkin turned pro at 24, hence it's not like the fighters who turn pro in their teens and move up several times as they are still growing. He also regularly weighs in at 165ish for the 30 day weigh in. Hence, what you say is entirely logical.

I think it is a combination of the above to be honest. A testing the water fight in itself would be fine, likewise people would be OK with the WBO middleweight champ jumping the queue for a super middleweight title shot. However, people don't consider that a fighter should be 'testing the water against a top 30-40 type' and winning a world title at the same time.

Yup, very poor fight that should easily gain him a title. From thereon he has no excuses regarding level of opposition afterwards in my book. Would dread another phase of his career to be so stop start and dross after the somewhat recent form he's shown.

What? Not a chance. He weighed in at 165lbs for the 30-day check weight before the Jacobs fight. He naturally sits between 160 and 168 and making weight for him is pretty much cutting out carbs the week before the weigh in.

Golovkin said he would be able to cut to 154 for a Mayweather fight. If you think he’s a natural SMW you are off your rocker. He’s not even a “big” MW.

Nobody can call Andrade a fake champion. He was ready twice to fight BJS and Saunders has not got in the ring to fight Andrade.

    A complete waste of time.

The only benefit to be seen is potentially facing the winner of Eubank/Degale.

He clearly uses the 30 day weigh in as a warm up cut, no way does he walk around less then he fights at LOL

Golovkin also said "mexican style" and ran like a *****, and anyone from "154 to 175" (except they have to meet me at 160 where I can either weight bully them or drain them lol, unless its Floyd for the moolah)

FFS he wouldn't even fight Canelo at 155 and GGGtards claim Canelo is the bigger man?

Mate you just need to take one look at him and realise that he’s not a natural SMW. It’s not that hard to understand.

They want to dine out on Saunders being "A 2 weight world champion" but anybody who knows the sport knows how meaningful that really is in boxing nowadays with the multiple world titles and the mind-boggling rankings you sometimes see. It feels like we are always on the cusp of Saunders getting a big fight, but it never materialises. After he beat Andy Lee, it took 2 years til he fought, Lemieux. Then it's talk of GGG, Canelo etc. and we all know what happened next.

My worry is that if/when he wins this SMW title, then he just stays there, milk a few easy title defences, from the average to terrible contenders that the WBO are happy to have in their rankings, and we're still kept waiting on Saunders getting a big fight. I can hear it already from Frank Warren: "Once we get this next title defence out the way, then we're gonna be looking at something big for Bill" then come the injuries and so on...

Murray was noticeably bigger than Golovkin in the ring, but looked small in comparison to Groves when he moved upto 168. Groves was obviously outsized himself when he fought Smith.

Golovkin isn’t a natural SMW, especiallly not in this era where it’s a division frequented by light-heavies boiling down. That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t clean house at that weight, but it’s a simple eye test to establish that he isn’t as big as the main players at 168.

That’s fair enough. I just think that the alphabet brigade long sacrificed any credibility they may have had, and their only purpose is window dressing for making fights happen.

When asked what he knows about his opponent

    “We’re both fat *******s”.

Sums up the level in this fight.

BJS will chase the money, so if this sets up a fight against Eubank or DeGale next (who are both fighting next on PPV), rather then get a mandatory % against Andrade it's what he will do.

I honestly don't think he's bothered about legacy it's all about the money. He would of likely been in line for a big money fight had the PED fiasco not happened for the MW marbles. As it did happen, now he wants a slice of the next biggest pie.

Already beat Eubank Jr once and he will know DeGale is pretty much done.
