It's crap like this and the ensuing politics that has resigned boxing to niche tier passing interest status as a sport. Forget about Michael Benson's tweets and on here, I'm talking in the real office water-cooler and pub on a Friday night world. You know, the one where people only post on FB when there's a massive fight coming up once a year or when their eyes start glazing over when you talk about the MW division.

I get why fighters do it of course, but that doesn't lessen the effect of adding yet more layers of bureaucracy to an already heavily politicised sport.

Looks like the Fury Wilder rematch is out the window now. Gutted. I thought Fury wasn't interested in the money? But it's great news for the homeless. $80m incoming.

No I fear for Dillian Whyte against Fury. I'd rather Whyte not spoil his momentum.

No, Fury and Warren have both said they still want it.

The deal just makes it unlikely given Wilder's TV / Promotional allegiances.

No, but it looks a lot less likely to happen now.

It might not get the fights we want, but it's hard to blame Fury.

For all the talking and all the nonsense, he would not have got this deal if he didn't go over to America - love handles and all - and fight Wilder.

Hopefully it sets a good example for boxers not wanting to take risks for fear of what it will do to their earning potential.

Joseph Parker and Bryant Jennings are with Top Rank so these would be obvious choices somewhere down the line.

Fury didn't want any more of that satanic power. I'm genuinely not surprised.

    This. 100%.

People were saying Fury would be more confident as he'd be in even better shape but nah. That power and how close he was to death will be playing on his mind.

    Like tories aren't they!!

If you have a pound, they will extract it from you one way or the other...

I feel for the people when they see their bank statements, and they get confused over who charged them what and for what fight!!!

Good luck when you attempt a refund!!!

Come on, people can't really believe this? Fury has been fighting since he was a kid. Sparred and fought the very best in the game. Been on the canvass many times from heavy shots. At age 30, in the best shape he's been in, he's suddenly lost his bottle?

The funny part is we don't yet know who he'll fight over his next FIVE fights. Surely ESPN want him in with the best to see a return on their huge investment.

Would you and others have advised Fury to turn down one of the best multi-fight deals the sport has seen?

    Crazy theory.

he thing that worries me is fury saying if the big fights never take place he won’t lose sleep over it.

I have a bit of a feeling Fury knows because of his ability to lose focus and be uncommitted. He only has a limited number of fights left. I’ve got a feeling he’s taking really good money for a couple of knockovers to milk his current popularity and will try and get into an AJ mandatory position and cash out on that fight. He’s not a fighter I see fighting into his mid thirties

People acting like Fury has rejoined fat Mick exclusively on youtube PPV :D

Let's give Tyson and his huge deal with ESPN a chance. With the deal he's been given, he would've been insane to ignore it and take 40% v Wilder. Nobody in sport would so such a thing.
