Can't wait for Askrens little 5 minutes of fame to be over and people to see what a boring 1 dimensional fighter he is. Poirier has more of a right to a title shot then Askren, for Poirier the quality of opponents and wins in his last few fights is way superior to anything Askren has faced in his whole career lol.
Have you seen him in that Oscar pic? Forreal man & What's really strange to me I feel some type of Mandela effect going on. Could've swore that mug lost before. Maybe UFC paid to scrub off the web
Who cares if he has the leverage? He's earned that **** two or three times over by now. He's won 8 of his last 10 at 155, with 6 finishes, and he should really be 2-0 against Eddie Alvarez. He's beaten 3 world champions: Pettis, Alvarez, & Gaethje, and he has 9 post fight bonuses. He's actually exciting, something that can't be said for Askren, who seems to prefer dry-humping his opponents from half-guard. I'm not even mad at Askren for pointing out the situation which is unfortunate but true. I'm mad at the situation in the sport and the fact that Poirier will realistically have to win two more fights before he ever gets a title. That said, if they decide to match Dustin with Iaquinta, that would be a great fight for an ESPN main event.
Dana new like a lot of us did back then when his personality was as drab and boring as his fights were against mainly mediocre opponents, that he was just an average fighter who has never been a draw and wasn't worth his asking price. Since 2013 when he was a last a free agent, he has fought against even weaker opposition in ONE FC to keep that unbeaten streak alive but brings along a bit more of personality that made him a bit more attractive to the UFC and marketable at least for the short term until imo he gets exposed in his next few fights against decent opposition and those that don't already know see how boring of a fighter he is.
No, He realized that he still had a lot of stars at 170 he didn’t want a guy with a boring style to beat.
