Went 48 fights undefeated, only two losses came in his mid 30's, beat the likes of HOF fighter Virgil Hill (ending his long running WBA reign..) Thadzi, Griffin, Hall, Rocchigiani etc too.. Long reign as WBO champion. Also won the WBA & IBF... What say you? Is Dariusz deserving?
There you go Lance . Now your you're getting the hang of it "hate to say it ,but I think he just comes short " -Lance. You see lance that's how the GGG Canelo fight was . You hate to say it but GGG came short . Good job lance I'm proud of you man
For sure, unquestionably IMO. I'm glad you mentioned Drake Thadzi's name, id forgotten about him for a while. I first met him my freshman year of high school at an amateur event I fought in that he attended. Was always a really nice guy and I heard from multiple people he did a lot in his adopted home town community of Randolph, Massachusetts. Very tough and resilient dude who's been through a lot in life. I truly hope he is well and happy, he's got the type of personality that just endeares him to everybody and someone that almost all who meet him care about him tremendously, or at least that's how ge always seemed to me and two friends of mine from Randolph.
In an ideal world, no. I've got no axe to grind with Dariusz; he was a good, on his day very good fighter, and those who lump him in with the Ottke and Beyer's of this world are making a big mistake. But good, sometimes very good shouldn't be the yardstick for a Hall of Fame place. A Hall of Fame should be very discerning and exclusive, reserved for the consistently very good to great at least. If I was in charge of the Hall, guys like Michalczewski wouldn't be considered. But alas, that's an ideal world which doesn't exist. By the standards of Canastota, he should probably be there.
Of course he is HOF worthy. An atg LHW Won WBO, WBA, IBF LHW titles. Beat the man. Beat the fighter stripped of the WBC title. As a LHW champ went up in weight and won a CW world title before dropping back to defend his LHW title 23 times. Winner of 25 world title fights. Very good resume and champion
Knowing what I know about his career (albeit limited due to being American), I'd say he is HOF, whether he gets in is another story altogether.
An American boxer he defeated, Virgil Hill, is in the IBHOF. He beat prime Montell Griffin, who had two previous wins over prime James Toney and a win over prime Roy Jones. It's an injustice that Dariusz will not get into the IBHOF because he's from Poland and not the USA.
You don't get in just because you beat someone who is in the IBHOF. Griffin did beat Toney, but he didn't beat Jones. He won via a questionable DQ. Agree with the last part tho. But his WBO run is laughable. Michal does hold wins over Graciano Rocchigiani(who gave him a thought fight in the first one), Virgil Hill and Montell Griffin. I don't think it's enough to get him in. He defended the WBO belt a ton of times, but that was in the 90s and whom exactly did he beat during that reign? Great fighter with a poor resume.
He should be in, but it hurts foreign fighters to never have fought stateside given that the hall, and the voters, are located in the U.S. That's the real difference between him and Hill.
This. By my own personal standards or the standards I myself would set for entrants, then no he would not get in and that's not meant to be a slight to The Tiger in any way. I feel the same as you -- usually performed at a good overall level with some instances of being very good but not consistently in the very good category often enough to warrant inclusion and with all the belts, titles, defenses, and overall official record, his overall opposition wasn't that great and some of that, though not all or even the majority of the blame falls on him. Well put.
Coincidentally I was watching this DM fight the other day. He was just a bambino then but his opponent Steve McCarthy's conduct during the fight brought shame upon both himself and the good people of Great Britain. DQ'd in back to back fights over in Deutschland against young hungry lions and future LHW greats in Henry ''The German Michael Jordan'' Maske and Dariusz. This content is protected
