Will Eubank's chin hold up tonight?

Have I missed something where shot DeGale has suddenly developed concussive one punch KO power? Or the bit where Eubank has shown any kind of vulnerability in his chin?

Stranger things have happened, and DeGale is the larger man. Make no mistake though, DeGale stopping Eubank would indeed be a strange development given their respective records. As crude as junior can be, there might be a off-balance flash knockdown, but Degale’s dynamite punching leaving Eubank in a crumpled heap...? Nah.

Don't see it . Jnr is a naff boxer but he has a good chin and great engine, so is a bad match up for a near shot De Gale . I think Jnr will outwork De Gale and grind him down to a late stoppage.

And then his creepy Dad will be grinning inanely and claiming Jnr to the middleweight Ali.

Any man hit correctly will go over but if you were seriously rating Eubanks you have to say that thus far his chin doesn’t seem to be fragile! Also Degale isn’t known as a banger so if Degale is to win you would plump for points ? There are injuries which can lead to a stoppage and anything can happen but Eubanks getting clean KO’d ? I don’t see it.

Mate, very few people in this forum can post without bias when it concerns Eubank Jr.

We get it, he's crude technically, has tons of flaws when it comes to boxing. But we've genuinely only ever seen him rocked by Groves in all his fights and Groves is a hard puncher who almost one-punch KO'd Froch ffs. In any event Eubank had Groves hanging on for dear life in the final round.

If anyone gets hurt in this fight it is Degale. People are forgetting that barring a glorified spar against JJ McDonagh which didn't even last long, Eubank Jr has just gone one year out of the ring. Can you imagine how beneficial this will be? He is going to be so fresh, those elbow problems that have dogged his entire career so far have probably been rehabbed like never before, and he has had so much time to recover from that Groves fight physically and mentally. Then to make things tip even more into his favour, he's going in against a Degale who has had brutal fights for the past three years and who was almost KO'd in the fifth round by an unknown journeyman.

But hey it's Eubank so people lose themselves in a rage when they are posting about him.

I can see Junior getting floored tonight but not stopped. He doesn’t vary his power, every shot is thrown with everything he’s got and combined with his suspect footwork that does mean he can often be off balance when he’s let a shot go. Groves stepped away and caught him with a few big shots as Junior missed and fell in. I’m sure one (unofficial) KD was due to that.

Degale’s stoppage ratio shot down when he stepped up to the very top level, but let’s not put Junior up there. He’s got great heart and recovery so he will keep on going. Don’t forget though, Degale will be coming into this well over 13st perhaps even 13st, 7ib. He could have a stone on Junior and that in itself is exhausting. He talked post fight about Groves being just too big for him, well he’s got the same problem tonight so although Junior getting stopped is unlikely it’s not impossible either.

Let’s not forget why he had Groves hanging on for dear life mate. If his left arm had stayed in the socket Junior would have been tied up in the 12th as well.

True but it's part of the fight. People conveniently overlook the fact that Eubank had an absolutely awful cut above his eye early on in that fight which obscured his vision and probably expedited his recklessness and wild flurries in a naive attempt to finish the fight or hurt Groves early.

That’s true, too. I do forget about the cuts. He’s a real tough kid.

Eubank is full of heart and chin. Two of his genuine assets.

Just watched this interview with Jim McDonnell junior. Quite an interesting part about Degale post-Badou Jack 15:00 in.

Groves may have dropped CEJ twice. However he has a lot more pop in his punches than De Gale. De Gale looked like he was carrying a water pistol to a gun fight in the Truax fights.

I would be shocked if CEJ is dropped against De Gale. You have to go back to 2014 for the last time DG stopped someone at 168 in a serious fight (his last fight was a joke).

I expect Eubank to get dropped, not because Degale is a huge puncher, or because Eubank has a weak chin, but because he (Eubank) is clumsy as ferk and easy to hit. Add to this that Degale is the better boxer, has respectable power at SUPER middleweight, and is the naturally bigger man by a good bit, it just seems likely to me that Degale will put him down.

Looking forward to this one anyway. Degale on points.

Junior has inherited his old man's chin, in that respect he's good.

If he fought Callum Smith he would get knocked out.
