    The matchup is ridiculous, imo

Pre Ward Kovalev would paint the ring with Canelo.

Todays version wins but its hard to know how. I thought Kova looked like garbage in his last couple fights and didnt think he would regain form. Ive yet to see his comebacking win so dont know how good he really looked.

Kova either wins by paint job or wins a workmanlike decision...

Lol at GGG used to work Kovalev in sparring like a decade ago. Guy's camp came out and bragged that he hurt or dropped Kovalev with a body shot. If the two ever fought in a sanctioned boxing match GGG would have been executed prime for prime and I'm a big fan of GGG.

Look, its clear as day Canelo is moving up weight divisions in blazing fashion while his body instantly transformed into a brick shithouse out of nowhere. Anabolic steroids didnt give him his excellent skills and IQ and ring generalship, but they have significantly made him much more explosive, significantly improved his punching power and ability to take a punch, increased his stamina a ton, and allowed him to move up wdight classes so fast and compete with the elites of those classes who are clean. And against GGG, CANELO WAS CLEARLY THE BIGGER GUY, so the whole moving up to face bigger fighters than him narrative is a total crock of ****.

But whatever, all the anabolic steroids and synthetic testosterone in the world and other PED's he uses to increase his stamina isn't gonna be near enough to beat even a Kovalev who is 50% of what he used to be. CANELOS CAREER ENDS if this fight happens and a 187 call would probably be called in to the local police. Id love to see it all and would love it even more if Kovalev jumped out of the ring after and PUT IT ON ODLH to the point he could be charged with a sex crime, though ODLH is such a sexual deviant he would probably enjoy it and drop charges, if he were to survive it which I hope he wouldn't.

Come on bro, out of this whole forum you are the furthest thing from an actual boxing fan, have the complete inability to objectively talk boxing, and in all seriousness you are basically a skirt wearing cheerleader for any and all Mexican/Mexican American fighters. And I'm sure you're a real good dude in real life but your history here is bwyond embarrassing amd any analysis, speculation, and scoring of fights you have ever posted here is completely voided by the fact that you can't objectively see or watch anything related to boxing. As an outsider looking in, you look like an effeminate homosexual(and there is nothing wrong with that) cheerleader with a mad crush on any fighter with Mexican blood.

You come across basically as a racist and bigot strictly for ethnically Mexican fighters. But "Mexican" isn't a race, it's a country who's population has a diverse genetic makeup mostly of native and European genes.

Canelo is a good body puncher and Kovalev has a soft body. With mexican beef it's not unreasonable to think Canelo will be large enough to beat a faded Kovalev.

Everything you said is very possible. However Canelo is in his prime, Kovalev is on the decline. You never know, Canelo may bust a Pacquiao or a Duran and beat the bigger but aging LtHW.

Throughout boxing history we've seen several exmaples of smaller fighters moving up one, two or three divisions.

But you're right, Canelo would be a huge underdog.

With all due respect bro, you are completely full of feces.

While its true I follow and am a fan of many Mexican fighters, probably because Im of Mexican descend, and have been exposed to watching and following Mexican fighters first, It will be extremely difficult for you to find more than a handful of posts where my comments were extreme, controversial or completely bias.

You're talking out of your ass. You cannot back up what you are saying. I think your issue here is that I root for fighters who you probably don't like.

I'm pretty much half white, half native American as most people from Latin America are. I don't care to discuss race very much since I think race is irrelevant. I do find it interesting that you bring up race. Could be you look at things through a racial scope.

One of my favorite fighters is Vasyl Lomachenko, yet he isn't Mexican or Native American. Other fighters I root for are Andre Ward, Shawn Porter, Errol Spence.

Fighters I do not root for are Mikey Garcia (Mexican), Abner Mares (though at one time I was a fan), and Gennady Golovkin (Asian/White, who at one time I also rooted for and supported.

So take your false opinion of me and shove it up your sensitive rectum bro.

Its not just possible. Its probable.

When dealing with matchups like this... where one guy would be skipping a division and fighting in the next one after that, I tend to not think its going to be one of the relatively few atg style occurances/performances, and tend to answer with what is most likely to happen.

I think to approach questions and matchups like this with a 'Canelo can win because its happened before and well ANYTHING is possible' 'you never know' and bringing up Pac and Duran type of answer shows an extreme bias for Canelo.

You could literally answer every matchup with what 'could' 'potentially' happen... and list similar occurrences.

The reasonable and most probable answer to this thread is that Kovalev beats Canelo. How he wins depends on what condition he's in.

Like I said Kirk, I agree with you that Kovalev would be the clear favorite and should be expected to win by KO. That is the obvious knee jerk response.

Where I differ from your view is that I don't think a fighter moving up multiple weight classes is ridiculous. Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran and many other fighters have won titles in 3-5 even 6 and 7 weightclasses.

Its only one division above his last fight where he looked excellent, yes against a lower level fighter, but he did look strong. Many Canelo critics always claim Canelo comes in at 180+ (which I highly doubt), but either way, it's worth a shot and I applaud him if he does dare to move up and take the Kovalev challenge, win or lose.

Ffirst off everything I said about you is factually true and I'm not even gonna waste a fraction of a second of my time reviewing your posting history for examples. Every post you make essentially proves me right. Vasyl Lomachenko IS NOT ONE OF YOURE FAVORITE FIGHTERS OR A FIGHTER YOU ROOT FOR, STOP LYING.

Up to a certain point in my life I DID view things through racial glasses and though never fit the description of a racist I DID somewhat fit the description of a racial bigot. The first 12 years of my life I grew up in Somerville, MA. except for 2 years where I lived in neighboring Charlestown. Besides my mother, every member of my family influenced me and raised me with their racially biased and bigoted views, and at those times both places were mostly Irish American and to a much lesser degree Italian American or a mix of the two and both places were extremely racist towards non-whites. Almost all of my immediate family members were complete ******* degenerate criminals who ended up either doing long stretches in state or federal prison or were lifers in state or federal prison. My father included, and when he was sentenced to state prison where ge died, my mother luckily moved my twin sister and I out of Somerville to an excellent town to raise a family which was also right near the prison my father was sentenced to and where he would later die in. Around the time we moved, there were big racial wars happening in my former home city due to the massive immigration of Carribean Americans and Latin Americans and I was involved in that until I lwft and it was a major reason why my mother -- who is a saint and incredible woman -- moved us away to my hometown. As great a place as it was, it was predominantly white. People by nature are scared of the unknown and of people and cultures different to their own. So growing up there only reinforced my racially biased views.

Sports were the first thing that began to change my views and perceptions on race. I was a talented boxer, basketball player, and football player. Through AAU basketball, a post-graduate year I had to do to raise my GPA and SAT scores so I could accept and play football for a division 1-AA college and walk on to the basketball team, and then finally playing for and attending that school broke away most of my racially skewed views as most of my friends became teammates who weren't white, but there was still some Walla that remained and our race and color was still a noticeable difference in our friendships.

It wasnt until I enlisted in the USMC infantry that finally demolished any apprehension and mental walls and blocks still held in my head. Now I was part of a very diverse group of BROTHERS who we all had only each other to fully trust and depend on while deployed. It was in the USMC that I realized I generally got along better with Latin Americans(in the USMC primarily Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans, and Dominacns) and black Americans than I did most white Americans. Besides white Americans from the northeast, all of my closest friends from the USMC were Latin American and black American and after my time in the military I can honearly say race has never once factored into my view of a person, and I give everyone a fair shake but honestly for some reason just get along better with Latin Americans and black Americans than white Americans who arent originally from the northeast. Except people of middle eastern/central Asian descent, it takes me more time and effort to trust them than anyone else. And I really hate myself for that and have been always open about it and have been trying to change that for years, its been brutally slow but I am making progress. And the worst part is 99% of them are incredible human beings with enviable moral compasses and dont deserve in the least my built up distrust and apprehension of them. A large factor of that is my four deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan but also a lot of it falls on myself and I own my **** and share of the blame.

So don't deflect and tell me I'm full of **** and that it's not actually you, but indeed me who is racially biased. The difference between me and you is enormous. I'm open, honest, and most importantly real -- with myself and others -- about all of my flaws and perceived shortcomings, I ****ing OWN my bull**** and AIR OUT my dirty laundry and make a concerted effort to try and overcome my flaws and bias. You lie, not only to yourself but to everyone else, deflect blame and responsibility, and hence make not a single effort to change.

And since I know I can fight my balls off and am a highly trained and at one point talented boxer, a nd trained in other combatives through the military(especially grappling/BJJ and Krav Maga) I don't need to be a racial fanboy to boxers who look like me. I can objectively view and enjoy the sport and it's boxer for what it is and who they are.

And it wasnt until I finally overcame my serious heroin, cocaine, meth, benzo, and alcohol addictions that I truly saw and found a way to somewhat understand and see the systematic and state sponsored oppression in America of black Americans. Just like people used to constantly tell me, inform me, judge me, and dismiss me as a man because of those addictions, that's when I finally and truly "got it." The fact was, none of those people had any right to tell me anything about how to stay clean, what I needed to do, how I needed to act, or to judge me and pass that judgement about me onto others and most importantly to dismiss me as a MAN. See, if you were never a part of it or never experienced it, if you're open minded you might be able to slightly understand some things about it, but unless you were a part of it, personally went through it, and overcame it, you will never be able to truly understand it, so you need to keep youre judgements, "knowledge", and bull**** to yourself.

One thing I noticed in the USMC infantry and Combat Arms branch for that matter was how few black Americans were present in those roles. It was mostly white and Latin Americans. The reason I realized in retrospect was: why should they be there, why fight and possibly die for a country that has historically oppressed you, why do so much for a country that you don't really feel a part of or have some ownership in. But look at black American gang culture and you will see countless black men who would be the epitome of a warrior in the US military, but instead they form their tribe in their neighborhood and fight and die for that, because they feel like a part of it, like they are accepted and have ownership in it.

I'll be the first to admit I'm dumb as **** -- and I truly am -- but two things I've earned that no one can ever take from me are WISDOM and TOUGHNESS. You can't be born with either, you constantly have to learn the hard way from many mistakes, sometimes huge ones, and you constantly need to pick yohraelf up from them, learn from them, and be real with youraelf about them and real and honest to others to truly earn those two VERY SPECIAL and RARE things. I'm glad I'm an idiot, if I werent then I wouldn't be the man I am today, and I'm good with that and at as much peace as I possibly can be with myself -- though certain instances from my time in the military will forever keep me from completely being at peace with myself.

I'm sure -- positive even -- that you are much smarter than me, but take this advice from me because ive earned the right to give it to you and am offering it to you for your own benefit: stop being so close minded and open up your mind, go to a boxing gym or MMA gym and learn how to defend yourself and take all the lumps that come with it, go outside your neighborhood and travel, meet as many people different from you as you can and learn and appreciate their culture, be honest with yourself and others, and OWN all your positive traits and value them but more importantly OWN all of your flaws and make a concerted effort to improve them. Do those, and I promise you, you will be so much happier and have a much happier life.

WTF? lol I skimmed through this chapter, but I'm not wasting my time reading a rant.

You called me racist, I simply responded that you're full of s***, and to bump some posts that show I'm racist, if you can't find racist posts then simply STFU.

Again, you're making accusations. How am I not real? I'm completely real son. You do not know me, nor do you know anything about me based off my posts. I am very consistent in my criticism of fighters and the reasons I root for fighters. As a MATTER of FACT, I rarely post anything about my personal life here, so how can you say I'm not real? I'm not a real in what? LOL

I don't know what kind of mental state you are, so I'm not going to make fun of you, but clearly something is up with you. I wish you the best bro.
