agree with that but hes massively overrated and getting shown up by most of the top 10 heavies and those fringe fighters the only other would be hugie fury imo
Yeah, I'm usually willing to give less-than-impressive-looking guys the benefit of the doubt, especially if they've had a degree of amateur success, but I really can't get worked up about Joyce at all. Nothing he does has any sort of craft whatsoever. He's like a giant arm-punching robot that someone winds up and lets go round after round. He's a really poor proponent of the current HW scene if he gets anywhere near the top ten. Breazeale and Miller are bad enough.
I agree on Kownacki and Breazeale. He could maybe beat Hughie on activity, and give him the edge over Miller. I think he could also beat Parker, who doesn't seem motivated at all, but I wouldn't count on it. It's a fun division, but not a good one.
Honestly, i have no idea. I watch him and he just looks so, so bad, but he has an Olympic silver medal, arguably should have the gold, and his style seems to be effective. A fury fight would be, frankly embarrassing, Joshua would make KO him, Wilder depends how he holds up to that, but the rest, i have no idea, you can't rule him out, no matter how bad it looks, everyone who's ever sparred him has said it's horrible
Didn't they say in the post fight interview that he will now fight in the WBA regular title eliminator? I assuming that would be against one of Fres Oquendo or Trevor Bryan?
Peter Fury knows exactly what i'm talking about on here. So much so he was going to have his son vacant the bell he had just won the domestic U.K title when Joyce was eyeing it up. Not sure who's overatted its definatley not Joyce if anything he's underrated, all the nonsense im reading is comical . You would think the guy is someone who just walked into the ring from the stands . lol Joyce would be a nightmare for most .he didn't even get out of 2nd gear and this Ortiz thing ? Well Ortiz will be stuffed in that fight ,and stopped ,he might even win all the rounds leading up to his demise and if that's the case that means Joyce is about to take over . We probably wont see it next though , its Sanchez's job to get his fighter to take less punishment , he still wins the fight but he knows 2 fights down the line its going to be end game more so . A great example is my number 2 prospect maybe 3 ? Not sure now , in Hrgovic who's actually not really a prospect himself . Hrgovic presents huge difficulties to deal with and not even he has the style to get Joyce . People just want to forget that the man is 6'6 and doesn't stop throwing punches, where defense is all but tweaking it . Boxing fans aren't very good with reality until fights are over though. Joyce vs Ortiz Joyce going to take Ortiz late and drown him. Only guy that handles him and doesn't get bullied is Joshua because he has sopeed and counter punching and himself hits hard at 6'6. Fury would be on his heels the entire time and even if he should survive he will know he was a punch away from disaster. But back to Ortiz the man is 49 and will run out by mid rounds, he's not a one punch K.o artist ( HES NOT ..lol ) and he relies on being planted to throw one shot counters, he's going to get overwhelmed. Adding in step up fights? Joyce wont even hit his peak until his 13th fight, thats 5 fights from now. So were looking at 2020...? Depending ? The probability of him losing is slim to none,he defeats everyone outside AJ ,Fury and Wilder is a 50/50. I honestly don't know if Wilder would win that because he gets rattled easy and look at Joyce's punch volume where he also leaves little room to counter off unless you catch him coming in early. Stiverne actually got some decent shots off ( hence the SQUARED UP counter puncher, Ortiz is a BAIT counter puncher so if hes crowded hes not effective ) and Ortiz chin wont take that many shots straight on . Joyce isn't going to all of a sudden stop progressing ,so those picking Ortiz ? O.K , just remember he has a 6'6 260 plus giant coming his way.
You guys realize that Joyce said that Abel wanted him to get rounds in, 5 or 6 to be precise, he could have taken Stiverne out in the second round, Joe visibly took his foot off the gas after the knockdown.
Parker - Joyce SD Povetkin - Povetkin KO Pulev - Joyce KO Ortiz - Ortiz KO Whyte - Joyce KO Hughie - Joyce KO Kownacki - Joyce KO Breazeale - Joyce KO
I know everyone involved tried to rubbish the story at the time, but I have a feeling the story about Fury KO’ing him in sparring could well be true. I don’t see much in Joyce that makes me think he could hang with the top guys. His manager is also very annoying.
Nah, he was getting rounds in, he wasn't coming close to sitting down on his shots. Go back and watch, he took his foot off the gas in a big way after the KD, then when Stiverne starting trying to mount a comeback in the 6th, he went all out and got the stoppage exactly when he wanted to. I even mentioned in the RBR that Joyce and Abel were sadistically torturing Stiverne.
