Wig said: "A complete novice green version of young CHRIS with a handful of pro bouts to his name, and contesting his first ever twelve rounder, already managed to split a decision with BJS."

You then tell him to 'give over' as though the points he make are wrong or in some way an irrelevant bit of fanboying. Confusing to me mate, because aren't they entirely accurate? Saunders did win the early rounds with style but then got punched all over the ring and this was a split decision loss that could have gone either way.

I think Jr is technically not on the same level as BJS, but I'd certainly like Jr to win that fight.

The WBO is a more recognized belt now than it was in Sr`s day.

Saunders is far better now than he was back then, Chris still can`t jab like Saunders.

Yeah I can see how that may be confusing but the give over was more in relation to the whole idea Eubank beats Saunders.

It's just not happeneing imo Eubank hasn't improved much at all hence why I asked him to point out this MASSIVE improvement.

I hate Saunders just as much if not more than the next man but he beats Eubank in a rematch.

I think AL might make the Plant vs Benavidez grudge match and leave Dirrell free to fight Jr.

Jr vs Dirrell is a good fight!!

Agree. A fit and focused BJS, as he was in the Lemieux fight would school Jnr.

Young Chris hasn't improved at all since the Saunders fight, he's exactly the same it's just that he went back to fighting domestic level fighters and the ghost of Arthur Abraham then when he stepped up again he got nearly shut out by Groves and now he's just beaten a well past it DeGale and didn't look all that impressive doing so IMO.

Thought it was an awful fight. In first few round other than the 2nd. DeGale shorn on his physical gifts and looking like a fighter with too many miles on the clock was still in the fight with single jabs and left hands and a lot of holding that he should have been deduted points for..it was worse than a John Ruiz fight.

Eubank was his usual aggressive self although a little more patient and there was a sign of a jab. He still loads up and misses with far too many shots but DeGale was so negative and I think Eubank showed he didn't really have any idea of what to do. No body work, no variation of levels. When DeGale was lunging in he could have stepped off to land a counter or give himself more room and he didn't.

If he wan'ts a world title Dirrell is probably the only option. The Dirrell's have always been frustrating fighters - awkward and skilled but never really breaking through to the real top level. I can see Eubank giving Anthony a tuff night but still see him loosing but he might have a chance.

BJS would still beat him - Eubank couldn't deal with an old shot DeGale - he won't deal with a primer slippery BJS. You would make him second best against any of the other belt holder to.

He needs matching carefully if he ever wants to hold a proper world title.
I'd avoid Saunders unless its for a belt and aim for Dirrell - as a random fight what about Rob Brant? I don't know much about him he's fairly new on the scene fit and strong and probably a better technician than Eubank but hasn't fought a big name yet

One criticism of Junior last night...he couldn’t quite put Degale away. He was winging shots in from everywhere but was missing a fair bit. He wobbled Degale a number of times but didn’t quite have the zip to finish the job. It’s not all that and he deserved thd win but I still think he’d have more zip at 160.

Just to add as @zulander says above, it’s not just power, it’s setting up the shot too.

What fight did you watch because Jr dealt with Degale pretty dominantly?

Billy Joe isn't a 12 round fighter, will always struggle with a Jr. He doesn't have the stamina to take easily.

Rob Brant doesn't have a belt, IBO is more prestigious than WBA regular

I remember Brant getting comfortably dealt with by old man Braehmer. I think Eubank would absolutely pummel him and throw him round like a rag doll.

At no point did I say eubank didn't win but some rounds were a little closer than I expected. Only watched it back yesterday and the 1st 5th and 6th were hardly dominated by eubank. He was the clear winner with some big round in the 10 and 12 I just thought he could have done more to stop degale or land more.

Point taken on brant so many wba belts knocking around these days sometimes hard to keep up.

At SMW, Dirrell is a winnable fight. Plant, Ramirez and Smith all beat him comfortably.

I don't think he beats anyone of note at MW. Saunders schools him again at either weight. GGG, Canelo, Jacobs, Charlo and Andrade all beat him comfortably. Murata would be a good fight for him. Doesn't have the best feet and will likely trade with him.

Should move to middleweight or else fight Dirrell.

I think he is a good fighrer CEJ, hope he gets more respect now.
