A few points: 1.) Not only is the 170 lb rehydration clause a physical disadvantage for Jacobs, but it can be a mental one as well. Knowing that you can't fully rehydrate after the weigh-in can mess with Jacobs' head. 2.) Canelo's team would not have taken this fight unless they're very confident that they can beat Jacobs. His team told Canelo to avoid Mayweather, but he wanted the fight and subsequently lost. They told him to wait for GGG during Golovkin's prime years and he reluctantly listened to them. His team consists of some shrewd matchmakers. 3.) Jacobs looked like he had peaked against GGG. His subsequent fights didn't seem that impressive to me. I think Jacobs' handspeed really bothered GGG, but Canelo is much faster than Jacobs and his punches will get to the target much faster. Derev gave Jacobs all that he could handle and let's be honest, Canelo can do everything that Derev can do, only exponentially better. 4.) Canelo has a very judge-friendly style with the way his punches land and sound. This point is overlooked for boxing fans who've watched his fights only on TV. I attended the Rocky Fielding fight and had pretty good seats. Even with a sold-out crowd and the noise that they generated, the sound of Canelo digging to Fielding's body was very audible. I understand that there are a lot of fans who don't like Canelo due to the gift he got against GGG in their first fight, his positive drug tests, etc. But he seems to be improving every fight and is in his physical peak. He is making a case to be the 2nd greatest Mexican fighter of all time and by the time his career is done, he might be #1. Fighters like him at their peak do not lose to fighters like Jacobs (no knock on Jacobs, but he's just not on Canelo's level).
Great breakdown man very detailed and to the point. You're making me think twice about my prediction however I'm still choosing Jacobs in winning by either Majority Decision or UD
Guys we all know that if Canelo is standing at the final bell he'll get the decision REGARDLESS!!! That's written in the NSAC rules for officials
Even you know that Danny has no chance of winning a decision over Canelo in Vegas. Hell if he KO's Canelo Moo will get a SD win
I guess forget there was also a 170 rehydration for Jacob vs Ggg but Jacob weigh in alot more than 170 pounds on the same day as fight night happen? Surprise nobody say anything about that but bash canelo for it smh.
