Always found them both overrated myself certainly i feel that there is a level beyond them , perhaps the highest level boxers today but compared to what we've seen in the past and probably will see in the future they are not so special , what do other think ?

They are elite for today's standards. But there could be another middleweight out there that is more talented probably we probably just haven't seen him

canelo is a solid elite, proven now. GGG is a case for elite, that he needs to strengthen with some more wins of top calibre. I think the ultimate proof of being a real elite, is being able to beat another elite, which he has yet to do, but I feel he will soon this year...in fact he will beat several elites.

Yes they’re both overrated, albeit both very good fighters. There’s a handful of guys out there that could beat either of them at 160.

GGG is elite. Canelo can be competitive with the best, but not good enough to beat the best without help from his sugar daddy.

In this era, yes. In any other era, probably not.

If GGG was elite he would have stopped/dropped Canelo , or at the least beat him in a lop sided manner like Mayweather did.

Real elite/great fighters turn up better in the rematch and that was definitely Canelo.

Golovkin is a guy who liked to claim he fought Mexican style , but ran away in fear when a real Mexican style fight was given to him . :motorino: LOL!

an elite is someone who can beat all others by and large except other elite. SO if canelos not elite, then 3G isnt since he got beat by a sub-elite.

Trying to argue Canelo isnt and GGG is, is a self destroying argument.

It is 3G who needs to underline his elite status with an elite win. I think he will by 2019, and not just one, but several. Then his elitedom will be beyond contest, just wait and see.

But if we lie about it now, then we are doing a disservice to 3G who is capable of doing it by himself, a true elite doesnt need some fans faking his elitedom.

trust me, by 2019, 3G will hae beaten some of the best elites of SMW and LHW, and then you wont need to lie.

they are elite but they both act like drama queens sometimes. I will tell you one thing Hearns left no questions with hagler on who was better that night. And Maravilla cleared up any confusion with williams in the second fight

    Martinez ducked Golovkin, and Canelo ducked Martinez. With Martinez as the benchmark for a near elite fighter, they can properly be rated this way;

    GGG - elite
    Martinez - near elite
    Canelo - below elite

Yes both elite, in any era. You’d need an agenda to say otherwise.

Of course both are elite, it shouldn't even be a question. Both going into the HOF when they retire.
