Kean's not really a pressure-type fighter. He gave Carman too much space & too many chances. Carman can hit - but he can't box. Romanov, otoh, is obviously a very good pressure fighter.
I would expect so. Teslenko maybe? He could also be a last-minute opponent for Erkan Teper or Malik Scott in Boston on March 10th.
It's been announced elsewhere on this forum - but it looks like Charles Martin vs. Gregory Corbin has been added to the Garcia/Spence Jr undercard. Corbin is a very skillful guy working behind a jab and doesn't seem like the easiest guy to hurt defensively. Probably not an easy fight for Charles and I'd be surprised if the cards aren't against Martin for at least a little bit. But Corbin is asking a lot out of himself to step up this far at aged 38 and he's not faced a truly dangerous opponent before. I suspect that Martin will get to him eventually (I expect Gregory will tire) and slug him out of there.
Wach will be fighting Martin Bakole Ilunga in April in Poland. That's a very good fight, IMO. Wach is fading - but he's fundamentally sound, has power, and (as we have all noticed) - he's rather difficult to hurt. Obviously, Martin should be able to outwork him. It would be a major accomplishment if he stops Wach - or at least has him off his feet at some point. At the same time Martin will need to avoid gassing out - because you won't want Wach catching up with you.
Main Events is once again refusing to step up Cassius Chaney's opposition. As some of you might remember - Chaney was scheduled to fight Michael Glasscox on the Jennings/Rivas undercard in January in what would have been a gross mismatch. For reasons I don't know about - that fight didn't take place as planned. Chaney now has a fight scheduled for the end-of-March. His opponent is Christian Mariscal a 12-2 Mexican journeyman aged 38 who stands a towering 5' 10". If I'm not mistaken Mariscal was annihilated by Evgeny Tischenko in a single round. It was Tischenko's 1st fight at HW. This will be Chaney's 16th fight at HW. I'm shaking my head.
Yes, they appointed purse bids for upcominh fight between Tervel Pulev and Wlodarzcyk. On 20 March, the European Union of Boxing appointed a tender to select the organizer of the fight for the title of the European Union champion of junior heavyweight between Krzysztof Włodarczyk (56-4-1, 39 KO) and Terwel Pulew (12-0, 11 KO). EBU announced a few months ago that the boxer camps have time to talk about this matter. The promoters of the Pole declared that they would willingly even go to Bulgaria to compete with the 36-year-old, but so far no specifics appeared. Both boxers will fight duels on March 23 in Łomża. Włodarczyk will cross gloves with Alexander Jurek, while Pulew at the US Messe in Costa Mesa will face Brandon Johnson. http://www.ringpolska.pl/krzysztof-wlodarczyk/63505-20-marca-przetarg-na-walke-wlodarczyk-pulew
When I feel pressure, I fight even better. I want to be the first Polish world champion, I impose this pressure on myself and I believe that it will succeed. Everything seems to indicate that I will return to the ring in June - says Adam Kownacki (19-0, 15 KO).
Nick Asberry's return to the ring seems to have been postponed. Boxrec no longer lists a scheduled fight for him.
